Dear , March 31, 2011
Today is the final day in the first quarter of the Chamber's "Fill It Up" Membership Drive. Next week, we will announce the first-quarter winner, chosen from the group of Chamber members who have recruited new members from January through March. The winner will receive a complimentary "headliner sponsor" ad in the Chamber Links e-newsletter. The drive will continue throughout the year, with a stash of great prizes at the end of the year for the most successful recruiter. Here's how it works: Each time a new member joins the Chamber, your connection opportunities increase. So, throughout 2011, we're asking you to help "Fill It Up." Help fuel the Chamber with many more members of diverse industries and talents, to continually increase your opportunities to make connections - and to become eligible for prizes to be rewarded quarterly and at the end of the year. Each time you recruit a member, a ticket with your name and the new member's name will go into our "Fill It Up" container. Periodically, at Business After Hours and other large events, the staff will bring the container so you can monitor our progress in filling it up. Tickets are color-coded by quarter, so that we can award a quarterly prize of free e-newsletter advertising to a member whose card is drawn. Then, the ticket goes back into the basket, because the more members you recruit, and the more tickets there are with your name, the more likely you will win a very large collection of prizes at the end of the year. "Fill It Up" is also the goal for the end-of-year prize collection. With your help, donating services or products, the collection of prizes will grow all year long. To start it off, we have a theme-related prize, a gasoline gift card so you can fill up your tank; several hundred dollars of dental services from Anthony Lordo, D.D.S., so you can get a filling or other needed dental service; and some coaching and learning tools from Wes Mayer of Focal Point Business Coaching that are designed to fill your business development needs and help you ful-fill your goals and aspirations. Please e-mail Karen@worthingtonchamber.org if you would like to donate an item for the prize package. All members recruited from Jan. 1 through Nov. 30 will be eligible for cards in the drawing. During the first week of November, the chamber will hold a membership recruitment drive, during which volunteers will call prospective members. About a week before the drive, we'll have a training and pep rally so you can form teams for friendly competition, and after the drive, we'll have a thank-you party, where we can fill up on snacks and beverages. Are you working on recruiting a new member to the Chamber? If that business joins today, you'll be eligible for the first-quarter drawing, as well as the year-end drawing. Call the Chamber at 888-3040 for further information.

"Caregiver's Roadmap" highlights April 21 WBN lunch
|
Join the Women's Business Network of the Chamber for a luncheon on Thursday, April 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at Crowne Plaza Columbus North, 6500 Doubletree Ave.
The featured speaker is Pat Carpenter, from Sequent and OAD Publishing, author of "The Caregiver's Roadmap." Married to another financial planning professional, Pat thought her family was well prepared for terminal illness. Updated wills, advance directives and powers of attorney distributed, separate credit histories, personal life insurance in place: good basic planning, but not enough. Caregiver's Roadmap is about what she and her late husband learned that wasn't obvious:
- How do you keep friends updated when you're exhausted?
- How do you find the right doctor?
- Where do you find resources?
- How do you protect your energy level?
- What is important to keep doing, and what can you let slide?
- And, oh, what about work?
Through the six years after diagnosis, they learned how to cope. They built a bridge over the barrier of illness. And they figured out how to say good bye. Pat will share the journey that led to her book and her expertise in helping others. Support our scholarship fund by making announcements ($5/member; $10/guest), distributing promotional literature or samples ($10), and participating in door prize drawings ($1/member/guest). Reservations are required by April 15. Reserve your place through the"REGISTER NOW" link to the event web page, or call 888-3040. Gentlemen are always welcome at programs conducted by the Women's Business Network. Looking ahead: May 17 Women's Business Luncheon at Oakland Nursery. Save the date for the Progressive Power Luncheon on Oct. 13. |
