groundhog color photoTomorrow's Groundhog Day Business Forecast Breakfast at Brookside Country Club, from 7 to 9:15 a.m., is ON as scheduled unless power outages or a Level 3 snow emergency occur before early morning. If you registered for the event, please watch the home page of our website at www.worthingtonchamber.org and your e-mail box for updates.

We have been monitoring the weather carefully and believe that, at this time, we can proceed with the event as scheduled.

We're grateful to our sponsors, AT&T and WM Business Coaching/Focal Point, and to our speakers, city manager Matt Greeson, economic development manager Jeff Harris, school superintendent Melissa Conrath and libraries director Chuck Gibson. The chamber's executive director, Kathryn Paugh, will share feedback from the recent member survey on how area businesses predict their businesses and the local economy will fare in the coming year.

While the weather is on the tops of our minds today and tomorrow, the legislative climate is also a primary concern to business owners. We can still accept a few more reservations for Friday's Legislative Update with Congressman Steve Stivers at Holiday Inn Columbus/Worthington. Details are below. Call the Chamber office at 888-3040 to register.

Watch for more details about the Chamber's 2011 Annual Meeting, scheduled for Feb. 22 at the Doubletree Hotel. Plan to attend the "Opportunity Knocks" showcase of chamber opportunities from 11 a.m. to noon, and you might be the lucky winner of an iPad! Sponsors to date include Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, CompManagement Inc., CSC, DeVry University and Doubletree Hotel.

Be sure to check out the "e-serts" in this issue to learn about current promotions and specials from several Chamber member businesses.

We wish you great connections -- and safe travels in this wintry weather.

Opportunity Knocks at 2011 Annual Meeting on Feb. 22

Join the Chamber at our 2011 Annual Meeting "Opportunity Knocks" event on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Doubletree Hotel Columbus/Worthington, 175 Hutchinson Ave. (Crosswoods area).

From 11 a.m. to noon, you may visit display tables featuring Chamber activities, member benefits and programs, and other opportunities for involvement, including membership in Chamber subgroups and affiliates, volunteer assignments and roles on committees that partner with community partners.  Our goal is to assist you in identifying opportunities to participate in Chamber activities that are the best fit for you and your business development plans in the coming year.

If you visit at least six of the 10 "opportunity stations" (verified by Chamber board members and other volunteers staffing the display tables), you'll receive a key to try in the lock of a door at the front of the ballroom. If your key opens the lock, you'll win an Apple iPad waiting behind the door! And, whenever you complete a form at one of the stations, agreeing to serve as a sponsor or volunteer for a Chamber activity during 2011, you will be eligible to win several additional door prizes awarded during the annual meeting.

The luncheon will begin at noon, and the Doubletree is creating a special meal for attendees. Our program will highlight various ways in which members made connections with each other in 2010, and we'll conclude with an "Opportunity Knocks" audiovisual presentation featuring members taking part in Chamber activities throughout the year. We'll also elect new officers and board members and thank outgoing leaders of the organization. The program will end at 1:15 p.m.

Event sponsors are Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield, CompManagement Inc., DeVry University and Doubletree Hotel Columbus/Worthington.

The registration fee is $22 per member. To register, click REGISTER NOW in the registration box within this e-newsletter, and follow the prompts on the calendar event page. Be sure to click "submit."
