Hungry partygoers braved rain showers on July 9 to savor 52 dishes from 21 restaurants at the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce's annual food festival, A Taste of Worthington.  Peoples Choice award winners, tallied from the ballots of guests who voted on their favorite appetizers, entrées and desserts, included:

Appetizers, First Place: (Tie) J. Liu Restaurant & Bar - Lettuce Wraps AND Cantina Laredo - Fresh Guacamole with Chips and Salsa; Appetizers, Second Place: Cameron's American Bistro - Crab Cakes; Appetizers, Third Place: Weiland's - Smoked Trout Spread and Crackers.

Entrées, First Place: J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steak & Seafood - Grilled Filet of Beef with Mashed Potatoes and Sauce; Entrées, Second Place: Willow Brook Christian Home - Seared Beef Tenderloin on Crabmeat Pancake with Shiitake Mushroom Relish; Entrées, Third Place: (Tie) Brookside Golf and Country Club - Lamb Chops AND Friendship Village of Columbus - Central American Steak Sandwich.

Desserts, First Place: The Worthington Inn - The Inn's Famous Buckeye Sundae;Desserts, Second Place: Bridgewater Conference Center - Chocolate Volcano Cake; Desserts, Third Place: Weiland's - Amish Fried Pies.

The festival was held in the parking area of OfficeScape Corporate Center, 350 W. Wilson Bridge Road. Mount Carmel St. Ann's was the presenting event sponsor. Absolute Impressions was the 2010 T-shirt sponsor. Minuteman Press Westerville invites Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce members to a "Summer in the City" themed BUSINESS AFTER HOURS in conjunction with the Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, July 22, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Guests will enjoy food from City Barbeque, a co-sponsor, as well as beverages, door prizes, and great networking, all in the parking lot at 18 Westerview Drive, Westerville (corner of Main Street and Cleveland Avenue).

"Fore" warning: Chamber Golf Outing in the planning for Sept. 13 at York Golf Club
golf sponsorCalling all golfers ... Save the date for the Chamber's annual Golf Outing: Monday, Sept. 13, at York Golf Club, 7459 N. High St.  Registration for the scramble-type event will begin at 10 a.m., and a shotgun start will kick off the event at 11 a.m. The registration fee includes 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch, picnic dinner and assorted beverages.

The 2010 golf committee is chaired by Bill Alsnauer of State Farm. Your ideas, enthusiasm, feedback on past outings, and volunteer efforts are needed to make this year's event the best ever. Contact Theresa at 888-3040 if you are able to help with event planning.

The Chamber's annual Golf Outing is recognized as one of the best outings of its kind in central Ohio. The event is a great way to build relationships with a customer or client, reward a dedicated employee, or treat yourself to a day of golf while networking with other Chamber members. 

The number of golfers is limited to 130 players. Participants may register as singles, in pairs or as foursomes. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishing teams, and golfers will have a chance to win additional prizes through a door prize drawing and skill holes on the course. Hole-in-one contests will offer some exciting prizes, to be announced.

Young professionals plan partnership event on personal online branding

Young professionals, save the date!

Plan to join other young professionals from throughout the central Ohio area on Aug. 19 for an evening of networking, fun, and information about social networking and online branding. Young Professionals of Worthington (YPoW) will join with NextGen Dublin (the young professionals program of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce), young professionals from Union County, and others onThursday, Aug. 19, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Dave & Buster's, 3665 Park Mill Run Dr., Hilliard.

Presenter: Shane Haggerty, expert from Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, who has spoken on social media and personal branding to many leading organizations such as the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio School Boards Association. Participants will leave with an excellent understanding of what personal branding is, social media and its role in personal branding, as well as the art of perfecting a polished brand of your own.
