| Really , Really Sad Story - don't let this be yours |
A law firm called us recently - they had experienced a bad power problem and their server was wiped out. Goodbye to half a terabyte (500Gb) of intellectual property. Eeek!
No problem ... they were backing up to a cloud service. So they called the service (rhymes with "I-jive") and said 'help us get our files back, please! We need these overnighted on a USB disk so we can stay in business". One full month later - they still don't have their data back. Messages, emails, apologies, excuses - but no data. They attempted to 'trickle back' the files they needed the most - but it was inefficient and very, very slow. It would have taken 4+ weeks to trickle it back. But - expecting the overnighted disk each day - they waited and waited. Finally, the disk was (reputedly) sent as I write this. We'll find out soon if all their data really was returned.
