Dear ,

Internships are singled out by our students again and again as one of the most life changing and important experiences they have in the Career Academies program. This is the time of year when we increase the ways our business partners can work directly with Academy students to prepare them for and provide them with internships.

Getting Prepared
There are three ways business partners can work directly with Academy students to help prepare them for internships:
·    leading workshops on resume writing, dressing for success
·    participating in mock interviews, which gives many of our students their first interview experience
·    providing students with a summer internship position.

A Little Help from our Friends
Our business partners range from an outstanding group of alumni volunteers - that recently expanded to over 100 people willing to help our current Academy students - to corporate partners whose employees participate in workshops and mock interviews.

NBC interviewer and studentIn fact, NBC Universal recently offered these volunteer opportunities to their employees and Career Academies was overwhelmed with the number of people who responded with such enthusiasm.

Win Win
We match our highly qualified students with internship positions so that both our business partners and our students benefit.

Internship schedules are flexible-you can host a student from six to eight weeks, either full-time or part-time. The students may be assigned to one department or rotated through different departments.

In addition, the academy provides internship training, placement coordination, technical assistance and evaluation.

Interns prepareWhat You Can Do
But securing paid internship positions for our 11th grade students who have been groomed and prepared for this life-changing opportunity continues to be a challenge during these economic conditions.

We ask you to suggest companies and organizations to us that might be able to assist with internship positions. Here are some ways to get involved:
