Getting Ready to GIVE!

Christmas mayhem! Isn't this picture the perfect representation of Christmas material madness?? Fake snow, bits of wrapping paper, a lazy, overstuffed feeling - been there?

Aside from this joyful hullabaloo, part of keeping the heart pure is recognizing the temptation to overdo and hoard, especially at Christmastime. That's why The Three Gifts of Christmas came into being. We hope this simple story of a princess who gives her gifts away will inspire young and old alike to explore the joy of giving this season and all year round in new ways.

The challenge at Christmas is to set limits. Giving extravagantly is not about numbers, but more about meaning. How meaningful are the gifts being given? Were they chosen with thought, or are they simply the "latest"? Were they given out of obligation, or out of a desire to show true caring and love?

During this difficult economic season, try to encourage your family to give from the heart. Set a budget or a number limit, and make gifts more meaningful. Consider purchasing less new technology in favor of a new board game or supplies for family activities. Then, make a choice to involve your family in at least one act of giving to another family or individual in need. Deliver holiday meals! Donate gifts! Put change in the Salvation Army buckets! Work with your church or community organizations. Pack a Samaritan's Purse shoebox for a child on the other side of the world.

Escape the pressure of overspending and giving out of obligation. Skip or cancel car trips (it won't hurt for just this once!) for hot chocolate around the table and some homemade cards, crafts or cookies. Get excited about giving it all away.

Remember, most importantly, give YOURSELF. Show your kids how to serve and give themselves. Give, and give, and give in this season that allows more opportunities than any other. Putting others before yourself is a key element in making purity work!

MERRY CHRISTMAS from all of us at PurityWorks!

Our world desperately needs purity. 'Purity works' and Jennie brings a plan for purity in a unique and fresh way!"

Dan and Jennifer are teaching their children purity of heart as a foundation for sexual purity in a very intentional way. You can, too. Consider books in this issue or on our web site as gifts for families and children on your list. Give meaningfully this Christmas!

About Jennie Bishop
and PurityWorks
Jennie
Purity is a topic often associated with teen abstinence, but Jennie Bishop makes it her business to spread a message that personal integrity is about more than sex, and relevant at all ages.

"Issues of purity affects us from the cradle to the grave, in our hearts as well as our bodies," she says.

Bishop's best selling children's picture book, The Princess and the Kiss, has received wide acclaim from organizations such as Dennis Rainey's Family Life for its simple, straightforward message of saving a "kiss" for a future spouse. The companion book for boys, The Squire and the Scroll, approaches purity for boys from the angle of an adventurous quest, dragon included. Both medieval tales also have Life Lessons devotionals available that help parents and children go deeper, even offering purity ceremony ideas.

The overwhelming response to these books made Bishop aware of the need for a practical, strategic approach to purity training for all ages. Her methodology, Planned PurityŽ, is now presented in PurityWorks seminars in the U.S. and around the world.

"Purity is a worldwide issue that crosses every boundary," says Bishop. "It touches every area of life. I believe that when the root issue of purity is addressed and individuals learn to value purity worldwide, nations will experience true freedom, greater health, growth and economic success."

Jennie speaks in many venues: pregnancy organizations, schools (public and private), churches (of all denominations) and community gatherings. Her poise and passion make Jennie a frequent guest on radio (Family Life Today, WBCL's Mid-morning Show, and more), and television (The Harvest Show, 100 Huntley Street, and others). As a member of the board for iCare, a division of the National Coalition for the Protection of Children and Families, Jennie lends her voice to the iCare vision, providing parents with strategies by which they can understand modern technology and communication devices to guard their children's purity.

Bishop's non-profit organization, PurityWorks, also mobilizes purity training efforts for children, families, teens and adults in Ukraine orphanages, with partners in Kiev, and in various outreach settings in African countries, including Nigeria and Namibia.
