Purity training is more important now than ever. YOU make a difference in your community when you commit to purity in your household. Please let us know how we can keep providing training events, materials and information to make your journey effective. We're here to serve you!

It's Never Too Early-Really!

I can't count the number of times that I've sat at a book table and watched a parent pass by stories like The Princess and the Kiss and The Squire and the Scroll with words like, "Well, we're not quite ready for that yet." It's like everything goes to slow motion and I'm reaching out to them before they get out of earshot with a long, drawn-out, "Noooooooooo!"

Our tendency to think of purity in sexual terms alone keeps working against us when it comes to training our children. There are so many nonsexual and foundational topics we can approach long before the preteen and teen years. And even before we're parents, and at our kids' youngest ages, we can be discussing exactly what our plans are for our kids as they grow towards those years.

Our time to teach them is short, and by the teenage years all we can do is guide. Our ability to teach is lessened greatly as our kids gain confidence and become part of a more diverse social group (and then there are those pesky hormones-enough said). Therefore, our best bet is to be planning even as we're becoming parents. While your baby is in the simple stage of eating, sleeping and (you know), you have time to think and dream about his or her future.

How will you prepare your child for interaction with other children? How will their innocence be protected in kindergarten and elementary school? (that's when my daughter first decided she needed a boyfriend!) How will you answer early questions about differences between boys and girls? When will technology come into the picture, and with what boundaries to protect a pure heart? Do you see dating as part of their future? When? How will it take place? With what ground rules?

I speak to a moms group next week where most of the ladies have children two or under. I'm so excited to talk to them because they are at a place where they can really plan for their greatest impact on their children-where they can strategize before they get into the tangle of relational and romantic issues that are so prevalent in our culture.

Preschool Purity of Heart is a great little primer for thinking of purity in simple terms at a very young age. It introduces The Five Doors of the Heart (our senses) and gives simple, fun ways to train our little ones in keeping their hearts clean and retaining their innocence. The booklet is available through the  PurityWorks website at www.purityworks.org.

The point is, even before your kids are understanding it all, you can be plotting a course for them that equips them with everything they need to be poised to embrace sexual purity, integrity, honor and nobility. If you have little ones, you are at a great place to start.

Next time you pass a book table and think, "Well, it's a little early for that," think again. It may be the perfect time to be making plans for purity to work.
New Princess Christmas Book!
JenniePK3 cover

For those of you who love The Princess and the Kiss, we have great news! The Princess and the Kiss: The Three Gifts of Christmas will be released this fall just in time for the holiday!

In this story, the daughter of the original princess has become greedy and ungrateful at Christmastime. To overcome these issues, her parents decide to give her only three marvelous gifts, each one with special meaning. The princess learns the joy of meaning over material, and how much better it is to give than receive. What a practical message for our children as we try to teach the true joy of the season over materialism!

The Princess will also be released in a tenth anniversary edition. Both books will include the audio story on CD with a soundtrack.

Be looking for the new books on the PurityWorks web site in fall, and plan your gift-giving accordingly! For now, visit our store to purchase the purity resources you may need today. Your purchases help support the message and mission of PurityWorks every day.

About Jennie Bishop
and PurityWorks
Jennie
Purity is a topic often associated with teen abstinence, but Jennie Bishop makes it her business to spread a message that purity is for all ages.

"Purity affects us from the cradle to the grave," she says, "and it's about so much more than sex."

Bishop's best selling children's picture book, The Princess and the Kiss, has received wide acclaim from organizations such as Dennis Rainey's Family Life for its simple, straightforward message of saving a "kiss" for a future spouse. The companion book for boys, The Squire and the Scroll, approaches purity for boys from the angle of an adventurous quest, dragon included. Both medieval tales also have Life Lessons devotionals available that help parents and children go deeper, even offering purity ceremony ideas.

But children's books are just a part of what Jennie does. The overwhelming response to her books made her aware of the need for a practical, strategic approach to purity training for all ages. Her methodology, Planned PurityŽ, is now presented in PurityWorks conferences in the U.S. and around the world.

"Purity is a worldwide issue that crosses every boundary," says Bishop. "It touches every area of life. I believe that when the root issue of purity is addressed and individuals learn to value purity worldwide, nations will experience true freedom, greater health, growth and economic success."

Jennie speaks in many venues: pregnancy organizations, schools (public and private), churches (of all denominations) and community gatherings. Her poise and passion make Jennie a frequent guest on radio (Family Life Today, WBCL's Mid-morning Show, and more), and television (The Harvest Show, 100 Huntley Street, and others). As a member of the board for iCare, a division of the National Coalition for the Protection of Children and Families, Jennie lends her voice to the iCare vision, providing parents with strategies by which they can understand modern technology and communication devices to guard their children's purity.

Bishop's non-profit organization, PurityWorks, also mobilizes purity training efforts for children, families, teens and adults in Ukraine orphanages, with partners in Kiev, and in various outreach settings in African countries, including Nigeria and Namibia.
