Benfield Beat

April 26-May 2, 2010
MY APOLOGIES!

The earlier issue of the Benfield Beat had inaccurate information about Cell Phone Numbers going public this month.

Here is the corrected information about the
National Do Not Call Registry:

Can I register my cell phone on the National Do Not Call Registry?

Yes, you may place your personal cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry. The registry has accepted cell phone numbers since it opened for registrations in June 2003.

There is no deadline to register a home or cell phone number on the Registry.

You may have received an email telling you that your cell phone is about to be assaulted by telemarketing calls as a result of a new cell phone number database; however, that is not the case. FCC regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry, so most telemarketers don't call consumers on their cell phones without their consent.

CELEBRATE WORLD LAUGHTER DAY!

Sunday, May 2nd on the Decatur Square

laughing people

On World Laughter Day you can laugh with the whole world, especially your friends and neighbors in Decatur.

For the fourth year, the Decatur Community Bandstand on the Square is the site of a World Laughter Celebration, 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., on the first Sunday in May.  CNN will be there to cover the event.

Jean Woodall, a certified Laughter Yoga leader, will host the event, along with a few other laughter cheerleaders.  We could all use more laughter these days, and there are no yoga poses when you join in the merriment.  It's good for what ails you and it's free.  Bring your kid's and your silly bone and laugh more in one hour than you did all last year.

Laughter Yoga started in India, but it is so contagious that the laughter epidemic has spread around the world.  If you have questions, call Jean at 404-378-1673.  To learn more about World Laughter Day, visit www.laughteryoga.org.
