Vote for the DeKalb Farmers Market as you favorite state market
Show your favorite farmers market some love in our first ever "Love Your Farmers Market" contest. Vote today - it's easy, it's free and your market could win $5,000.

Care2 is partnering with LocalHarvest.org, America's most popular website for finding food grown close to home, to raise awareness of local foods, family farms, and community farmers markets through this fun, summer-long contest.

Such a contest couldn't be more timely. With an ongoing recession, food scares and growing concern over industrial farming practices, we're all searching for ways to reconnect with local, healthy and safe foods for ourselves and our families. More and more, Americans are visiting their local farmers markets to feed their families and support their local farmers.

So what better way to support the small family farmers near Avondale Estates than by helping your farmers market win $5,000 - vote today!

Gov. Perdue on the Opening of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities
"Today's opening of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities marks an important milestone that will allow the state to provide better and more focused healthcare results. A new agency to focus on mental health will not be a cure-all, but it will allow us to zero in on future challenges with an agency leader that reports directly to the Governor's office. Also, the functional realignment of offices within the Department of Community Health and the Department of Human Services will lead to more attention on preventative healthcare and a more focused effort on serving our state's most vulnerable citizens. The employees in these agencies have done outstanding work in a very short time frame to ensure a smooth transition.
