Merry Christmas from Farm Credit

A Chat With The Chief

by Dave Owens, President & CEO

Dave Owens

"The business structure of cooperatives is not well understood. Corporate America often looks at the financial interests of 'owners' and 'customers' as being in conflict. It is almost inconceivable to them that Farm Credit's top priority is to maximize the customer's value - not maximize profit.

The year 2012 has been designated "The International Year of Cooperatives" by the United Nations to celebrate the contributions of cooperatives and to encourage the growth and establishment of cooperatives all over the world. At Farm Credit, every year is the year of the cooperative.

Staff In The Spotlight:  Judy Wallace

Meet our Association's Vice President of Finance who celebrated her Silver Anniversary with Farm Credit earlier this month.

"I would tell all people - young and old - to keep learning. Don't ever pass up an opportunity to better yourself and expand your horizons. Embrace being a lifelong learner."

After completing an accounting degree from the University of Illinois and earning her C.P.A., Judy started her Farm Credit career as an accountant for Farm Credit Services of West Central Illinois in the Springfield central office. When the West Central Illinois and the East Central Illinois associations merged in 1989, Judy transferred to the Champaign central office of the new Farm Credit Services of Central Illinois association.
