Out with the old and in with... updated style!
|
This time of year there is a stark contrast between the grey winter landscape and the warm glowing colors of our home interiors. I truly appreciate the sensual beauty of drapery at the window, the shadowed light it casts, and most importantly, the barrier it provides between me and cold winter drafts. Admittedly, in my visits to client homes, I witness many dowdy and dated curtains in need of replacement. (Of course I do!). On my own to do list for this year are new draperies in my bedroom. I already threw out the pleated shades and replaced them with softly gathered French Door sheers. Now the light is just perfect for my cat's favorite resting place - glowing but not glaring. The traversing drapery will be next. Pleated to perfect fullness, a large scale motif linen in soft colors (photo above), and an exceptional hand finished iron rod with ball bearing carriers for easy open and close. Certainly practical, but also gorgeous, timeless style. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The photos below capture the before and after of a large dining room window. The interior designer (Judi Larkin) chose a Thibaut Chinoiserie fabric and trellis wallpaper. The draperies that I fabricated and installed are hand goblet pleated, double fullness, and interlined for luxury. Notice that the old fashioned dark valance is no longer and the new window treatment is elegant and stylish! |
