Wow! What A Spring!

No April Fooling this time: I sure am glad winter is over. And it's been a big Spring too! At the InfoComm 100 this year,
the talk was about growing our businesses, and taking advantage of new
opportunities. New real estate paradigms, such as Building Information
Management (BIM) systems, collaborative environments and social media were hot
topics, on the road to economic recovery. The AV market is back in a big way! And that's great news for everyone. The 2010 Inner City 100, a celebration
of companies based in urban areas (in our case, the Allston neighborhood of
Boston), was last month. The two day
event was filled with optimism about the economic recovery. PepperDash fared well again, landing the 19th
slot. The press in the Boston Globe and Bloomberg BusinessWeek was terrific. We extend a heartfelt
thanks to our loyal clients and dedicated employees for our success. The New York City Situation Room got a work out in May, when a terrorist bombing attempt forced a
full-scale evacuation and police mobilization. Reports from City Hall are that the system worked perfectly. Fast action saved lives, and we are very proud
to be a part of protecting the greatest city in the world.
The new Crestron CAIP Advisory Board (CAB), of
which I am Chair, met in May with a two-day summit at Crestron's Rockleigh
headquarters. Created
as part of Crestron's efforts to fully empower CAIPs and leverage their value
in the AV community, the CAB is dedicated to improving communication and
planning between Crestron and its independent programmers. InfoComm
2010 planning was high on our list of priorities, and you can see the
result at this year's System Programming
and GUI Gallery, which has bold
new layout and features software from the best programmers out there. Stop by and have a look. See you in Las Vegas!

Title: Senior Field Technician Tell us about your job:I am a bit of a Swiss army knife. I do a little bit of
everything wherever I am needed. What aspect of your job interests you the most? The most enjoyable part of my job besides being faced with
new challenges everyday is the coding, installing and tweaking of DSP programs.
Audio was my first love and will always be a big part of me. I am glad whenever
I can apply my 20 years of audio experience in my work. How does AV personally affect you?Music has been a big
part of my life from as early as I can remember; which is why I was in live
audio for 16 years. I need music around me at all times. It affects my mood and helps me focus. I love to see live music as much as possible,
especially Jazz. There is something about being in a small club and the
connection that happens between the band and the audience. There is a communication and energy that you
can't experience anywhere else - it is magical. What's the most high tech gadget you own?
My new Bosch dishwasher, it is supposed to know how dirty
your dishes are and adjust accordingly. That and all the Crestron I have in my
house. Best Advice:Take the time to do
the job right the first time. You can reach Rob by email: rplatt@pepperdash.com.
