PepperDash News - A higher level of control
June 2009
PepperDash at InfoComm09

InfoComm09 LogoIt's InfoComm time again! How fast the year has passed... PepperDash will be there, of course, and we hope you will be there too. Here are a few items of note for PepperDash at InfoComm 2009.

Crestron System Design and GUI Gallery
PepperDash has been in the GUI Gallery every year since its inception. This time, we'll be rolling out a new commercial template on our kiosk touch panel, and showing off some recent creations from our talented graphical designers. We'll also be displaying our new PepperDash Energy Management Suite™, a collection of energy saving and usage monitoring applications designed to make you feel better ecologically and economically.

Polycom Booth #3161
Drop by the Polycom booth to see a demonstration of the holy grail of large-venue conferencing. PepperDash and Audio Incorporated teamed up to solve the challenge of using a mixing board in auditoria or production environments. Based on Audio Inc.'s engineering, PepperDash enabled full synchronization between a Yamaha M7 mixing board and a Polycom SoundStructure DSP hybrid. The special sauce is in the Crestron programming, of course, and the solution applies to a variety of mixing boards and hybrids.

Green AV Task Force
The Green AV Task Force Steering Committee has been busy in the run-up to InfoComm09. New EnergyStar™ standards for commercial gear have been an especially hot issue! Drop by the Green AV Mixer Thursday at 4:00 in the Platinum Member Lounge (W2506B) to meet members of the Task Force, the Green AV Special Interest Group (SIG), and some special guests from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Green Building Council (USGBC). While you're at the Mixer, pick up a copy of the new poster "Take Steps to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint." The poster's design and layout are the work of our own Kristine Cheng!

Despite the economic malaise, I think the show will be as fun, exciting and productive as usual. See you there!!

Tell us about your job:

Executive management, sales and marketing

What aspect of your job interests you the most?
I love building things. PepperDash was an opportunity to build a new market for independent control programming, then to build the very best programming company in that market. Growing a small company is always interesting, challenging and exciting... if you can tolerate the stress.

How did you get started in the AV industry/control systems programming?
When Sumanth left the IT department at Breakaway Solutions, he told me to call if I was looking for something interesting to do, as he and David were getting a new company off the ground. One day I dropped by and Sumanth explained what Crestron was. I was an AV geek in school, so it was a good fit for me.

What's the most high tech gadget that you own?
My BMW R1200R outputs 109 HP and 85 lb-ft of torque, but still averages 45 MPG. That's pretty high tech.

Favorite Bar:
What's a bar? I really don't get out that much. When I do, single malts, T&T or micro brews are preferred, but I'll drink a martini if someone treats.

Describe some of your hobbies:
Riding or reading about motorcycles. That's the big one. My "night job" is being president of my temple Brotherhood, and I volunteer for several interesting charity events. I'm also a DIY homeowner with a penchant for big projects like building a theater in the basement or decks in the backyard.

Best Advice: Focus on the basics: Listen to your customers, provide outstanding service, strive for improvement, and finish what you start.
