Volunteers needed for Thanksgiving Blessing
You and your family can help distribute food to 750 more for Thanksgiving this year at the annual Thanksgiving Blessing.
|
Volunteers of all ages are welcome! |
Sponsored by a collaboration of churches and community organizations, families in need will receive a box filled with enough food for about a week plus a turkey. The boxes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis on Nov. 20.
To help pack the boxes, volunteers are needed at the Highland Center, 520 Olive St., Shreveport, the week before the event:
- Monday, Nov. 15 - 10 a.m., set up and inventory the items
- Thursday, Nov. 18 - 5 p.m, pack 500 boxes
- Friday, Nov. 19 - 10 a.m., pack 250 boxes
- Saturday, Nov. 20 - 6:30 a.m., Distribute food boxes!
A few items are still needed to fill the boxes. Call Jamie Scoggin at 221-8404 or e-mail thanksgivingblessing@gmail.com for more information or to sign up to volunteer.
Check out the Thanksgiving Blessing 2009 video to see how it all comes together and how important your help is to the families we serve!
Volunteers make a difference
Thanks to the United Way of Northwest Louisiana, the Veterans Transitional Living Program and the Bossier LightHouse have a new look!
As part of Make a Difference Day, volunteers from Raising Caines and Regions Bank cleaned up flowerbeds and painted a mural, bringing a new look and new energy to the sites.
The 30 volunteers were some of more than 350 that worked on projects across the city. See pictures of their work in the Make a Difference Day photo album.

4,000 angels are ready to bring holiday wishes to your friends and family! |
For a donation, we will mail a beautiful, hand-wrapped angel ornament to anyone on your Christmas list. After Nov. 19, look for the link on our website.
Last year, we sold out, so get your lists in early!
Your support allows us to provide a home for young women with nowhere to go, after-school tutoring for at-risk youth and to help build families through adoption. On their behalf, thank you!
