Title: Bridging The Gap To At-Risk Youth: Bricks & Bridges Author: Dr. Anthony Limoges and Dr. Monte Selby Publisher: Incentive Publications Size: 240 pages Cost: $30.00
There is no cookie-cutter demographic for the at-risk student. There is no specific race, gender, geographic location or socioeconomic status that causes a child to be at risk. At-risk students are everywhere, and no two are alike. This book is about bridging the gap to those students--connecting positively with them as individuals and helping them to develop ways to stop pulling up the bricks in their lives, and to build bridges that will get them out of tough times.
The goal is not to cure kids, but rather to provide them with the tools that can help them break their current cycle of behavior and help them prepare for success in life.
This book includes:
- A music CD with 11 of Monte Selby's engaging songs to inspire and ground your thinking.
- Insight into important topics (relationships, values, emotions, communications and conflict)
- Lessons and activities for your students (one set focused on prevention and one set focused on intervention)
- Staff development activities to build a connected community of adult learners.
