Greetings!
We have entered a new month again and it seems that time truly flies! Our theme for this month is the "Strong Family." It just so happens that the Walnut Family Festival, which is only a couple of weeks away, occurs this month, too.
The so-called nuclear family is fast becoming a thing of the past and is constantly being redefined to fit the changing mores of society. However, in the Christian context, nuclear families and non-nuclear families are both covered by the same gracious God who will not let any of His children to be left without support.
His promises ring through the ages. King David's words assure us: "We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you." Psalm 33: 20-22 NIV The Church Staff |

In Jesus, Our Destiny is Secure
How often does doubt about your eternal destiny come to your mind? This happens, although it shouldn't. Why not? The Bible tells us that once we believe and accept Jesus Christ, all our sins are forgiven as a result of what He did on the cross, once for all time. It is not because of anything we have done or continue to do that merits salvation, because it is a gift to us through His grace that we can only take by faith.
Unlike what you may have heard from others, by accepting Jesus, you become royalty. God no longer sees your wrongdoing. He only sees Jesus' robe of righteousness around you. In His eyes, he regards you as though you have never sinned. And He will never allow anyone to snatch you from His hands!
The Salvation Prayer
You may use the following prayer or one in your own words to accept Jesus' offer of salvation. He suffered in your place on the cross to take the death penalty for your sin in your stead.
"Lord Jesus, I believe You are truly the Son of God who died for my sin on the cross once and for all, and was resurrected so that I may live. I confess all my sins to you knowing that You have already forgiven me from all of my wrongdoing. Thank You for allowing me to receive You as my personal Savior. Thank You for saving me and conforming me to live a life that pleases You. Amen." |

But first, you must believe

Pastor Conrad |
The fourth sermon topic under the theme, Christlikeness, was delivered yesterday at the Good News Hour by Pastor Conrad Miranda. The subject was Sharing the Good News. He entitled his message, "Is That the Final Answer?"
He quoted the Great Commission in Matthew 28: 19 and 20 where Jesus commanded to "Go, therefore, and make disciples...." He spoke about two basic things one needs to do to share the good news. The first is to believe, and the second is lead others to believe.
The verses he used were mainly from the Gospel of John, chapters 20 and 21. Chapter 20 laid the basis for believing. It is the story of Christ's resurrection and how Mary Magdalene and the disciples, especially Thomas, came to believe that Jesus rose from the dead. He used Chapter 21 to serve as backdrop to a Christian's duty to share the gospel with others by casting their net into the waters of the world to bring unbelievers into fellowship with the body of Christ.
There were several points in the message where Pastor Conrad paused after a statement to ask, "Is that the final answer?" and at the very end when the Lord asked the prophet Isaiah, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" and he answered, "Here am I. Send me!" he again posed the question, "Is that the final answer?" |

A Time for Greater Participation
Our First Sundays are always a time to hear from more of our congregation. They share their testimonies, they sing, play a musical instrument, or recite a poem; they do interpretative dancing, or perform skits, all to the glory of God.
Please let Pastor Hansel know beforehand if you would like to speak up front or share a talent. It's your time to shine, and He likes it when you honor Him by sharing your abilities or your gratefulness for things He has done in your life. |

That's This Year's Theme at the Festival
The youth will have their Game Booth again this year. It was pretty much a successful venture when they did it for the first time last year. Please make sure they have our support.
Our Community Service booth will be up, too. Blood Pressure and Diabetic Screening will take place again. This is a reminder to all our medical professionals to volunteer their time for this "bridge event." Several of you have already signed up to join the parade. We also need volunteers to man the booths and to set up and dismantle the booths.
We will set up the tents on Friday, October 12, beginning at 4 p.m. The Walnut Family Festival runs all day on Saturday, October 13. We plan to dismantle the tents at about 5 p.m. that day. Our own theme is "Built on the Rock!" |

Learning to Stand
..."Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today...." - Exodus 14:13
The Israelites had just left 400 years of slavery in Egypt. They had fled to the desert, but they had come to a dead end at the Red Sea. Word reached them that Pharaoh had changed his mind. He was sending his troops to recapture the Israelites. They cried out to their leader Moses, complaining that he had brought them that far only to die in the desert.
Learning when to move and when to stand is the greatest challenge for a workplace believer. We are trained for action. We are not trained to sit idly and wait. We are trained to solve problems, not wait for them to resolve themselves. However, God says there are times to wait. We are to wait until He says go. If we go before He says go, we likely will make our situation worse.
If the Israelites had attempted to cross the Red Sea before it parted, they would have drowned. If they had fled north to try to avoid the Egyptians, God would not have moved in a miraculous way. God cannot work on our behalf if we continually try to solve our problem when He has instructed us to stand still. Standing still is sometimes the greatest action we can do, although it is the most difficult thing to do in the Christian walk.
Stand still when He says stand and see the deliverance of the Lord.

Lord, thank You for making me a blessing. I present myself to You, a living sacrifice, for ministry to the world. Thank You for allowing me to see others through Your eyes of love and concern and that I would ask myself "What would Jesus do?"
There are many times that I have been selfish or apathetic, and times I have missed out on the opportunity to minister and be a blessing. Thank You for all the people in my family and community who need a blessing right now. Thank You for Christians around the world who need Your hand of blessing right now.
Lord, you know the need. You are good, all the time. I thank You that in Your mercy, You will reach out in the way You know best and meet those needs, uplift those spirits, and bless those souls, for Your glory. In Jesus name, amen. |
