Welcome to Gospel Life Community!

Greetings!
We started on Monday something about intercession and we continue to encourage you in this regard.  Some may ask, doesn't God already know what's going to happen, so why pray to ask Him for things that we may have no control over?

Perhaps remembering what happened in the days of Israel's king Hezekiah where his life was extended through the prophet's intercession, or Moses' plea to God not to completely annihilate Israel at one point in time, will tell us that, indeed, prayer changes things.

At this time, we ask for your individual intercession on behalf of Gospel Life's mission work in the Philippines, that the needs of the church groups there be met and that Pastors John and Jessie's teaching and nurturing ministry will continue to grow and, in turn, help equip the pastors and leaders as they minister to their flock, to reach the unsaved and help disciple believers in that corner of the world.

Ask the Lord to also encourage and strengthen the families of military personnel who are separated from or have lost loved ones and that these personnel who are believers will be bold in their witness to those around them who do not believe in Him.

Pray without ceasing! 1 THESSALONIANS 5:17

Core Group

The Core Group Meeting is scheduled for this coming Sunday at 2:00 p.m., after the fellowship lunch. Please take note.  All members of the Core Group are encouraged to attend.

When you see things happen or don't happen as you might have expected, the likelihood is that they have been discussed or presented at a core group meeting you didn't attend. So please attend to stay informed and be a part of the discussion of ongoing and new items that come up in these meetings.

What you didn't hear or know about by being absent from a Core Group meeting doesn't mean they don't exist.

Eschatology

This coming Saturday is the day to make sure your afternoon is free to attend a most important seminar regarding end-time events.

At 3:00 p.m. Pastor John will lead out in this study.  For sure, it will be not only an interesting subject but also, it will give us knowledge of the signs that Jesus is soon to return!

It will be conducted either at the Fellowship Hall or in the church sanctuary, depending on power point connections at the Fellowship Hall.

Everyone is invited.

Fellowship Dinner

Our monthly fund raising fellowship dinner is coming up again on the third Tuesday evening of this month! That's on August 21, not quite two weeks away.

The place is the Capital Seafood Restaurant in Rowland Heights, at the area of Nogales and Gale. Please make your reservations early.  Johnny Chua will be glad to take the reservations from you (909-228-2162).

Mini-Retreat

The Men's Breakfast Group will have their mini-retreat on Friday and Saturday, September 21 and 22.  This is inclusive for all the young and more mature men, married or unmarried.

The subject of the retreat is based on the movie "Courageous."  Breakout groups and Bible Study from this backdrop will be held following the movie. Please invite your male relatives or friends to come with you.

Pre-registration is encouraged.  A sign-up sheet will be available at the church foyer for this purpose a couple of weeks before the start of this event.

Discipling the Nations
-
"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous" ( Prov 13:22 NKJV).
-

As a student in 1971, Berthold Becker was converted from being a socialist activist to a disciple of the Lord Jesus. Shortly after completing his university education, Berthold decided he wanted to understand what it meant to experience God in his professional career. So, he learned to walk with God at work in the automotive industry. Berthold testifies how God gave him many designs for cars that became their best-sellers. He was often referred to as the "prophet" among his non-Christian auto executives.

-

With his wife Barbara as his personal intercessor, Berthold left his career in the auto industry in 1986, to begin many entrepreneurial Kingdom initiatives. One was launched in the Ukraine through an initiative called GfS (Gesellschaft für Strukturentwicklung). Berthold became active in many training, consulting and joint venture situations, helping Ukrainian business start-ups. During his travels there, he noticed the lack of availability of good bread, and he decided to do something about it. He started small businesses using mobile bakeries that he bought from the Swiss Army. The German and Ukranian governments soon recognized that Berthold had been serving the nation through his business expertise and came alongside him to say, "You are doing it better than we can." The governments began funding his enterprises, while his group remained in control of the business.

-

The Bible says "Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession" (Ps 2:8). I believe one way that will happen is when Christians become the source of blessing to a city or nation.

-

These enterprises (which include technology transfer and training centers for bread, meat, and dairy products) have become a joint venture with a Ukrainian business group, operating successfully in the food industry.

-

Today, God is raising up a new breed of Christian workplace leader. God will use anyone to impact a nation because we are all called to disciple the nations. How might God want to use you in the days ahead? What idea might God give you to impact a nation?

Ministry of Grace Corner

Gifts from this ministry should be handled with care and integrity.

2 Corinthians 8:18-20 CEV - "With Titus we are also sending one of the Lord's followers who is well known in every church for spreading the good news.  The churches chose this follower to travel with us while we carry this gift that will bring praise to the Lord and show how much we hope to help.  We don't want anyone to find fault with the way we handle your generous gift."

Meditation

Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10).

Thank you, Jesus, for your obedience to the Father. Thank you, God, for Your loving sacrifice. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for Your comforting guidance. Life is so much more with the hope I have in You, Lord.

I am so glad that you have provided the way for me to have eternal life in Your presence--in a place where there will be no more tears and no more suffering; a place where there will be unimaginable joy, praise, worship, and peace.

I praise You for Who You are and for what You have done. In Jesus name, amen.
