Greetings!

How thankful must you be to the Father? Consider His unconditional, unchanging love that He shows you on a daily basis!  There is nothing to compare with the gift of knowing Him and being known by Him.

You have to be grateful, too, that Jesus, His Son, made a way for you to come boldly before God's throne as beloved children.
And as you enter times of intercession, not only do you feel blessed and led by the Holy Spirit to glorify Him through the words that come from your lips and the meditation from your hearts and minds.

Be thankful as well in knowing that the paths He places before you are the best, the most peaceful, the safest and most fulfilling ones to walk on. Let this thought be etched in your minds! His faithfulness to you at all times, and the wonderful things He does for you  confirms the awesome invitation to each one of you to be the messenger of the gospel in a world desperate to know His love and His truth.

Place God first in everything you do and make every second count for the assurance that your eternal destiny doesn't change when you believe and receive Jesus as Lord of your life and Redeemer of your soul!

Monthly Fellowship Dinner

Third Tuesday of August

Our monthly dinner for fund raising and fellowship will resume this month.  So be ready for this event on August 21 at 6:30 p.m.

Remember, it's going to be on the third Tuesday of each month. We had a break in July as there were a bunch of things going on.

The venue will be announced later. Just be ready when Johnny Chua comes around to receive your reservations.  You can call him also at (909) 228-2162.

Special Seminar
"Eschatology"
A seminar regarding the last day events (eschatology) will be presented by Pastor John on Saturday afternoon, August 11, at 3 p.m.

There will be a review of some of the traditional teachings and beliefs regarding events that will transpire towards the "end of time" and an exploration of newer views and truths revealed about this important subject matter.

Please mark your calendars for this informative session. We trust you will unclutter your schedules to accommodate this  study.
Friday Small Group
Helping Hands
The Friday Small Group Fellowship has volunteered to do some cleaning in the church on Saturday morning, August 4.

They plan to take care of cobwebs and related clean-up to help maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of our church.   Volunteers outside of the Friday small group are welcome to help.
Bible and Book Ministry
Prisoners to Benefit
Please do not forget to bring your spare Bibles and Christian books and deposit them in the large white box at the church foyer. Help the bible and book ministry initiated by the Monday small group fellowship (coordinated by Ernie and Ruth Jordan)  to be distributed among prisoners.

All books and bibles are to have soft covers, and there should be no names, addresses or other personal information written within the pages of these books.
Men's Mini-Retreat
"Courageous Living"
The Men's Breakfast group will have an abbreviated retreat on Friday and Saturday, September 21 and 22.  This is almost two months away, but it is announced early so the men in our church can get ready for it.  Please clear your calendars for this event.

There will be a viewing of the movie, "Courageous," and then breakout groups will conduct and discuss a challenging  study guide that comes with the series.

The retreat will start on that Friday evening, at 7:30 p.m. and will continue the following morning, Saturday, in two sessions, beginning at 8:30 a.m.  The men will bring breakfast item(s)  on that Saturday morning.

You will be reminded of this scheduled event periodically until then.

Such A Time As This

"On the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace, in front of the king's hall." - Esther 5:1a

Esther was a woman who lived for a cause greater than herself. God used this woman to save the entire Jewish people from extermination. However, before God could use her, she had to come to a place of death in herself. It was not an easy decision. Her uncle Mordecai was the instrument God used to challenge her to measure up to the task.

"Do not think that because you are in the king's house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this? "(Esther 4:13b-14)

Mordecai was telling it straight. For her to speak up meant great risks if the king did

not receive her. It was automatic death if the king did not extend his scepter, which meant acceptance of her approach to the throne. It was also a time to realize that God may have brought her to this place and time for this specific purpose. However, if she did not respond in faith, God would use another instrument to deliver the people. What would she do?

Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish (Esther 4:16). On the third day of the fast she came and stood in the inner court of the palace, in front of the king's hall. She was like Jesus who stood in the inner court of Heaven on that third, resurrection day. She gave up her life, but God raised it up on that day and delivered an entire people from destruction because of one woman's willingness to give up her life for a greater cause.

God has called each of us to a purpose greater than ourselves. Know that it will require death before life can be given to this purpose. It must be His life that lives, not ours.

Meditation

Dear God, You know the importance of commitment. You have witnessed the devastating affects of broken commitments through the ages. Thank You for helping me to be a person who always keeps my promises and takes my commitments seriously.

Let Your Holy Spirit guide me into living a godly life that passes Your blessings and my  Christian heritage down through the precious generations after me. In the name of Jesus, deliver me from all harm and evil and protect my family from the evil one. And as for me and my house, let us serve the Lord forever. In the Savior's name I pray, amen.
