Greetings!
Isn't it exciting to be a part of God's work around the world? A short report from Pastor John yesterday was enough to give us the "injection," so to speak, of inspiring details of the mission they have committed themselves to as they continue to train and equip pastors and leaders in the Philippines.
What is the word from the Lord at this time? Read on, and experience our combined strength as we unite in purpose and determination to wait on Him, knowing that He always has our best in mind.
We have no reason to fear!

Pastors John and Jessie |
A Welcome Surprise!
-
We had quite a surprise yesterday! As the Praise and Worship team began the service at 10 a.m., who do you think walked in but our Senior and Founding Pastors John and Jessie Tulio? Everyone was just so very glad to see them with warm greetings and hugs.
They came for some purpose that the Lord had not revealed to them as they prepared to come home for a visit. It was a distinct impression they received from the Holy Spirit for them to divert their plan to spend about a week in Beijing to celebrate their 48th wedding anniversary, but rather to spend some time with us in Walnut instead.
As we worshipped together, Pastor John received a message for Gospel Life from the Lord which he shared with us at the beginning of the Good News Hour. Pastor Jessie, likewise, had words that came to her which she also spoke about.
We praise God for the ministry of our founding pastors, for their dedication to service and for their enthusiasm to teach and to share what God has put in their hearts to implant Kingdom values to larger and larger spheres of influence wherever they are! |

The Message
- When we asked our senior pastors to share with us a short update of their mission work in the Philippines, before Pastor Hansel delivered his sermon at yesterday's Good News Hour, we knew we were in for some spiritual goodies.
Gospel Life's church in Guimba, Nueva Ecija is actively looking for property to build a church on. A ministers' meeting was held in Bacoor City and another seminar in Metro Manila is scheduled beginning in mid-August. After that they will be headed to Bacolod to assist in the graduation exercises of the School of the Supernatural currently being conducted by Jon J.
They are also ministering to two other churches in Metro Manila by assisting their leaders and pastors in teaching the Basic 10 lessons to their people. Pastor John said that all the signs and impressions they have received are about further expansion and not about retreating.
Pastor John received a message from the Lord as we were in praise and worship earlier yesterday, and that message, he said, is that "we are entering a new season to learn more about Perseverance and Faith." He referred back to the experience of Israel where only two persons of the original throng that fled from their slavery in Egypt were finally able to enter the Promised Land because of their faith.
Emphasis was given to the words of Scripture that "without faith it is impossible to please God...." (HEBREWS 11:6) Pastor John said that we need to exercise perseverance in trusting God and in faith to listen as to what, when, and how to respond, and then to obey because we trust Him.
His words of encouragement included a reminder that God rebukes the most those who think they don't need anything, and that He never blesses destructive criticism. He encouraged us, instead, to pray for our leaders and wait on Him to do His part. He also pointed us again to the fact that He gave each individual a destiny and that this goes true as well for the church as a whole.
Pastor Jessie spoke briefly about the last core group meeting where she observed Pastor Hansel speaking in tongues. She had a word of knowledge to interpret what he said relative to expecting God's blessings because doesn't He own the cattle upon a thousand hills? And that He continues to fulfill His promises as recorded in Hebrews 11:11 where Sarah believed by faith the promise of a son even when she was considered too old to have one?
Pastor John remarked before he offered a prayer of blessing for Pastor Hansel, before the latter gave the sermon, that in the Philippines all of the pastors he met would sing before they prayed. He said that in his case, he would just say the words of the song: "Wake up, child, it's your time to shine, you were born for such a time as this..." |

Prophetic Ministry
As part of the the Spiritual Gifts theme for the month of July, Pastor Hansel spoke on the topic of Prophetic Ministry at the Good News Hour yesterday.
He reminded us that prophets exist to this day and age and that the "Lord never does anything until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets." AMOS 3:7.
He gave us biblical support on the role of the prophet, who is one with a manifestation gift of the Spirit, and how this gift is exercised. Pastor Hansel pointed out that "prophecy is essential to the body of Christ but cautioned us against using the prophetic to rebuke but rather to declare the Kingdom of God upon another person.
At the end of his sermon, he asked members of the Lion's Den School (Rebecca, Joyce and Tito) to demonstrate how this gift is exercised. |

Jesus Culture Conference
Several Gospel Life members, mostly of our youth and young adults, are going to participate in the Jesus Culture conference which will start on Thursday afternoon and end on Saturday evening, August 2 - 4.
The conference is a positive direction taken by a new breed of emerging revivalists who , through these events, are equipping a generation to change the world.
The goal of the conference is "to encounter Jesus through worship, equip a generation for revival through preaching and ministry, and send people back to their cities and campuses to bring Kingdom transformation through a supernatural lifestyle," almost similar to what Gospel Life's Lion's Den School teaches.

The event is going to be at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Pastors L J and Hansel are coordinating the details for those attending. |

Men's Retreat
There will be a mini "Men's Retreat" on September 21 and 22. Please mark these dates on your calendar.
The retreat will begin on Friday evening and end on Saturday late morning. It will revolve around the film "Courageous," and a practical teaching guide for the men in particular.
There will be no overnight accomodations. Participants will have to commute for the retreat. Please pray for this retreat where all of our men can participate. You may want to invite other men to join us in this event - your friends, neighbors or other male members of your family.
Watch for more details in upcoming issues of the GLC Newsletter. |

Marketplace Ministry
Making Adjustments
A former client of mine was the marketing director of a large food brokerage company and told me a story about one of their client grocery stores located in the upper Midwest. It seems that the store could not understand why at a certain time every winter sales plummeted. They studied their product line and interviewed customers. They did everything possible to uncover the mystery. Finally, someone made a remarkable discovery that changed everything.
It seemed that whenever it was really cold outside, the manager raised the temperature in the store. When customers came into the store it was too warm for them, so they removed their coats and placed them in their shopping carts. This meant less room for food and resulted in reduced sales overall. They lowered the temperature of the store, and as a result, the sales climbed back to the levels they were accustomed to. Their adjustment resulted in restoring sales levels.
Jesus stood on the shoreline and watched Peter and a few of the disciples fish. Jesus yelled from the shoreline asking if they had caught anything. They had not. He then suggested they cast their line on the other side of the boat. Without knowing the person who was addressing them, they took His advice. They began catching so many fish they could not bring them in.
Adjusting our lives to God is the first thing that has to happen in order to begin experiencing Him in our daily lives. For some, it is simply following the advice of those above us. For others, it may require a major change in our job situation. Still, for others it could mean making changes in relationships. Whatever the case, you can be sure that until we adjust our lives to God we will not receive His full blessing. Ask Him today where you need to adjust to Him.
(Today God Is First (TGIF) devotional message, Copyright by Os Hillman, Marketplace Leaders.) ..."Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." - John 21:6

Ministry of Grace Corner
The ministry of giving is not a command but God's partnership with us in loving! Therefore, it is always to be voluntary.
2 Corinthians 8:8 - "I am not ordering you to do this (to give more generously, v. 7). I am simply testing how real your love is by comparing it with the concern that others have shown."

"The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary.... The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back."
(Isa. 50:4-5).
"Dear Lord, I want to be able to say the same thing Isaiah said, and mean it. I want to spend time receiving your instructions and wisdom through your Word, speaking with you in prayer, and hearing you through an open mind, willing heart, and listening ears.
"Please bring to remembrance your Word so that I may share it with the weary and offer them hope. Please hide your Word in my heart that I will remember it and not be rebellious, that it will be a constant guide in my daily walk.
"Thank you, Lord, for all your blessings past, present, and future. In Your name I pray, amen."
