Join Us Men's Breakfast & Women's Ministry Groups
SATURDAY, JUNE 21, 8:00 A.M.
at the Fellowship Hall
WE HAVE A GUEST SPEAKER |
|
Greetings!
We'd like to see a good turnout for the breakfast event on Saturday, sponsored by the Men's Breakfast Group and the Women's Ministry Group. All who can are encouraged to attend. We have a guest speaker, Mr. Scott Chang, who is the founder of the Faith-Based Business Networking International.
This is another opportunity to invite other family members and friends who may benefit from hearing someone talk about one's influence as a Christian in the workplace and in the marketplace.
There will also be a Q & A period after the talk. Bring your business cards with you so you can network with others both within our church and those who may come from outside of our church.

An Open Letter
Bibles and Christian Books Needed
Dear Fellow Gospel life Member and Friends,
We, the Monday night Small Group Fellowship, are doing a project that was suggested to us by Jose Montenegro, son of Luis and Rebecca. This project is to bring Bibles and Christian reading materials to someone currently incarcerated in the Los Angeles County Jail.
Through Johnny Chua, we met the Senior chaplain for Los Angeles County Jail systems, Mr Ed Welsh, who visited and spoke to our Monday night small group and told us of the many needs of the jail population. Our group has made it our project to address one of those needs. We are collecting Bibles and other Christian books to be given to the prisoners who request one and who have a desire to change their lives.
Mr Welsh told us the story of an inmate, a woman being held for murder and on death row. This woman asked to attend a Christian chapel service which later she admitted, was just as a ruse to get out of her cell. While at the service she saw a Bible and stole it. These Bibles were there to be given to the prisoners but she didn't know that, she just wanted to steal something. Later in her cell she started reading it and in time that very Bible brought her to Christ. This woman was executed by the State but her dying breath was a prayer to God.
This is a project we believe in and are committed to. We are making an appeal to you to help us by donating Bibles and Christian-related reading materials that we can pass on to inmates. Won't you join us in spreading the Word to people who are at possibly the lowest point in their lives.
Donated Bibles and Christian books have to be paperbacks - not hardbacks - and should not have any personal information inside. They prefer new books, but near new is also acceptable.
Thank you and God bless,
The Monday Night Small Group Fellowship*

Jesus Culture
Event is in the First Weekend of August
Time certainly flies and August is creeping upon us real fast. There is a group from Gospel Life Community preparing to participate in the three-day event on August 2-4.
Jesus Culture is a new breed of emerging revivalists equipping a generation to change the world. "At the conference our goal is to encounter Jesus through worship, equip a generation for revival through preaching and ministry, and send people back to their cities and campuses to bring Kingdom transformation
through a supernatural lifestyle."
Those who have signed up to go with the Gospel Life group will please confirm with Pastor LJ. Your tickets have been purchased and paid for, so please redeem them if you haven't done so yet. | | |

Mother Teresa
"For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me"(Matt 25:42-43).
Mother Theresa gave her life to a service to the needs of the poor in Calcutta, India. She reveals in the following what she believes every believer in Jesus is called to do:
"It is not enough for us to say: "I love God," but I also have to love my neighbor. St. John says that you are a liar if you say you love God and you don't love your neighbor. How can you love God whom you do not see, if you do not love your neighbor whom you see, whom you touch, with whom you live? And so it is very important for us to realize that love, to be true, has to hurt. I must be willing to give whatever it takes not to harm other people and, in fact, to do good to them. This requires that I be willing to give until it hurts. Otherwise, there is not true love in me and I bring injustice, not peace, to those around me."
It hurt Jesus to love us. We have been created in His image for greater things, to love and to be loved. We must "put on Christ" as Scripture tells us. And so, we have been created to love as He loves us. Jesus makes Himself the hungry one, the naked one, the homeless one, the unwanted one, and He says, "You did it to Me." On the last day He will say to those on His right, "whatever you did to the least of these, you did to Me, and He will also say to those on His left, whatever you neglected to do for the least of these, you neglected to do it for Me."
When He was dying on the Cross, Jesus said, "I thirst." Jesus is thirsting for our love, and this is the thirst of everyone, poor and rich alike. We all thirst for the love of others that they go out of their way to avoid harming us and to do good to us. This is the meaning of true love, to give until it hurts."
How might her words encourage you to do things differently?

| | "Dear God, today I reach toward Heaven and ask You, and depend on You, to be the source of victory in my workplace and my life. May Your banner wave over my work and life so that You might receive glory. I know that You bring love and joy into my life, and I am a better and richer person because if it. Help me to share Your love and life with others. I love You. Amen. |
