Seek the Supernatural!

Greetings!

We experienced first hand this past week what steadfast intercession can do not only for the object of intercession but for our personal spiritual growth. So many have expressed moving stories regarding what it meant for them to step out in faith.

Let's continue praying for our faith and trust in God to be reinforced and restrengthened even as we are assured that He will never fail us.

To God be the glory!

Week of Fasting and Prayer

A successful and fruitful week of fasting and prayer just concluded brought our congregation together in spirit, and among those who came to the nightly meeting of the intercessors, a common bond of togetherness and unity became even more apparent.
Experiences were shared, strongholds were broken, faith and confidence were exercised even more.
The best part of the week was perhaps observed by most during the Sunday service yesterday.  The tone was set at the Praise and Worship service, led out by Dustin and Savannah Box who also participated as faculty in the Lion's Den School.
Pastor Hansel preached during the Good News Hour and his power-packed sermon served as a prelude to a very moving challenge and conclusion to the service.  A short praise and worship followed and as everyone moved forward to the "river," Pastor Hansel inspired the congregation  to shout a "battlecry" to claim victory over the main concern for which the fasting and prayer week was initiated.
The deacons were asked to bring the offering baskets up front and a special prayer to multiply these blessings was offered by Pastor Joannie at the beginning of the service.

Breakfast Meeting

The Men's Breakfast group and the Women's Ministry group will join for breakfast on Saturday morning, July 22, at 8:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Scott Chang, founder of FBBNI (Faith Based Business Networking International) is the guest speaker.

Mr. Chang will give a talk on what Christians can bring to their workplaces to become a positive influence to all concerned. There will be a question and answer session following his talk.

The two groups have decided to essentially meet at the same time so those who have spouses can encourage one another to attend the meetings together, at least for breakfast, and then meet with their respective groups afterwards, unless there is a common program they wish to share with each other.

Bring your friends and other family members to make this a worthwhile "bridge event" and to attract them to our circle of friends.

The Skillful Worker

Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men. - Proverbs 22:29

The Lord has called each of us to be excellent in what we do. Those whom God used in the Kingdom as workplace ministers were skilled and exemplified excellence in their field. Not only were these men skilled, they were filled with God's Spirit.

Then the Lord said to Moses, "See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts - to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship" (Exodus 31:1-5).

Consider Huram, the master craftsman of bronze in whom Solomon entrusted much of the temple designs. He was a true master craftsman (see 1 Kings 7:14).

Consider Joseph, whose skill as an administrator was known throughout Egypt and the world. Consider Daniel, who served his king with great skill and integrity. The list could go on - David, Nehemiah, Acquilla and Priscilla.

I recall the first issue of an international publication we began. It was common to hear the comment, "It doesn't even look like a Christian magazine." They were saying the quality and excellence exceeded what they equated to Christian work. What a shame. Has inferior quality become synonymous with Christian work?

May we strive for excellence in all that we do for the Master of the universe.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving (Colossians 3:23-24).

The e-mail we received from Pastor Jessie last night contained this bible text which was used by the pastor in the church they visited on Sunday:
***
James 1:6-8  "BUT when you ask Him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.  Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.  Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.  Their loyalty is divided between God and the world and they are unstable in everything they do!"
***
"Wow!"  I thought, "God is really settling it in my mind that we should not waver in our faith--just like Abraham. God is so good and faithful to all of us!"

This is such a timely and appropriate message for our community at this time.

Meditation

Oh God, How mighty are Your works in all the earth! I want to thank You for the times You have made Your presence felt in a mighty way. Please, prick the hearts of mankind that we might seek You with all we are and that we might experience a mighty revival among believers and a great awakening among those who have yet to believe and accept You as their God. I praise You, Lord, and want to bless You with my life. I love You.
