Greetings!

How is your faith? Do you take it for granted?  Do you exercise it often enough? Or, do you have a stream of ongoing faith in anything and everything that you do that it is part and parcel of every fiber of your being?

On the other hand, are you faithless, thinking that everything that happens is a matter of "fate?"

Think about this:  Even when we are faithless, God remains faithful.  2 TIMOTHY 2:13

FIRST SUNDAY

Please call Pastor Hansel if you have a testimony or a talent to share so you can be included in the program on Sunday.

If you have a specific faith experience(s) during the time when our church property was being acquired, please tell us in front of everybody else on Sunday.

We all need to share our common desire to press together, and to see what more miracles the Lord has in store for us.

Realizing that a good number of you who now attend Gospel Life Community weren't here at the time of its purchase it  will be well for everyone to reacquaint themselves with the history of Gospel Life.  You can get a quick "refresher course" by going to our website http://gospellifecommunity.org and clicking on "Our Story."

We'd like to re-develop that closeness in spirit that we have, perhaps, been slipping away from, and kindle anew the kind of faith that inspires, promotes and elevates us to soar like eagles no matter what the clouds below us look like.

Check these verses out:

Hebrews 11:1 - "The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd."

Ephesians 3:20, 21- "God can do anything, you know - far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us."

Both of these are in The Message version of the Bible.  We need faith, an enabling faith that allows us to know that the things we hope for are real and a proof of what we cannot see. This is the kind of faith we need in these times when fear and doubt could get a hold of us.

FROM METRO MANILA
Dan_Jec_John
Pastors John and Jessie send their greetings and God's blessings to all.  "Marvelous" things are happening in the Gospel Life churches in the Philippines, especially their work in the Metro Manila area and in the ministry of JonJ and Marcia in Bacolod City.

Two special meetings were held in the last two weekends, which featured Mark Crawford from Australia, and Dave Crone from the Mission at Vacaville. They taught at the school in Bacolod City and also to the group at Metro Manila which included pastors from other churches. They spoke of the importance of the schools of the supernatural and by doing so they generated lots of interests and invitations to other churches.

Pastor John says some of the pastors offered their churches as venues for future meetings and conferences.

Next month, Pastor John and Jessie will be in Bacolod City to teach in JonJ's school and to hold a workshop for another church that they are helping there.  He will teach the leaders how to use our Basic 10 materials and help them in strategic planning. "The Lord is truly connecting us to people who need our assistance and He is opening doors for us everywhere.  Still, how we wish we could be there with you, especially during these times...."

Let's keep on praying for the work God has laid out for them across the globe.

DEVOTIONAL

The Anguish of Faith

"Do not hide Your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit." - Psalm 143:7b

Of all the biblical characters, David gives us a glimpse of a man who walked with God with great emotion in victory and in defeat. David never lost a battle throughout his many years of serving as king of Israel. In many of the Psalms, David often lamented about the difficult places where God had placed him. He talked of his enemies and the need for God to deliver him. He talked of God's everlasting love for him. How do you suppose David came to this understanding after years of being sought after by King Saul who wanted to take his life? His years of turmoil within his family gave him many reasons to lose all hope in a loving God.

David often began his Psalms in a place of discouragement and loss of hope. But he never ended one Psalm in defeat. He always came to a place of victory in God by the end of the Psalm. David always placed his life in God's hands, knowing He would care for him.

Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O Lord, for I hide myself in You. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground (Psalm 143:8-10).

It is okay to feel discouragement. It is part of the process of grieving and working through those times of pain. But God wants each of us to allow Him to walk with us in these places. If you find yourself in one of these places, do what David did. Ask God to show you the way and let Him bring the word of His unfailing love to you.

Meditation

Oh, how I praise You Lord!  You heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds. You count the number of the stars and call them all by name. Great are You, Lord, and mighty in power.

Your understanding is infinite. You lift up the humble, and cast the wicked down to the ground. I praise You Lord, You who covers the heavens with clouds and prepares rain for the earth; You who makes grass to grow on mountains and gives food to beasts of the earth.

Praise You Lord, the One whom I trust to heal my hurts and bind up my wounds...and provide my needs. Bless You, in Jesus' name. Amen.
