KINGDOM AUTHORITY
--------------------------------- |

Greetings!
It's important to know when to wait. Sometimes, because you may be results-oriented and measure success in terms of what you produce, you may easily overlook the importance of waiting on the Lord (Psalm 27:14).
Waiting on Him does not imply idleness or apathy, but rather to be still, as in being steadfast and expectant. Doing otherwise by taking matters into your own hands, could inadvertently delay His blessings for you and this might cost you in terms of finances, opportunities and even relationships.
On the other hand, waiting on the Lord allows you to stay in step with Him, and strengthens your faith, which are absolute essentials in living out what you would call the "Christian life."

 | FELLOWSHIP DINNER | | |
Enjoyable Event for Those Who Go
 | |
Becky, Pete, Kay and Ademir at last night's dinner. |
Our monthly fellowship dinners are always fun and enjoyable events for those who go and attend. Last night's dinner was not an exception.
Twenty-four people sat around two long tables and two regular tables in sometimes animated conversations about different things until the restaurant owners indicated it was time for us to go!
The fact that our numbers vary each month that we have these dinners does not detract from the fellowship and camaraderie that keeps us returning to these monthly dates. They are certainly a way to test our palates, as there's always plenty of dishes to choose from.
Besides, half of what you shell out for these dinners go back to GLC, which qualifies for a tax deductible donation. Yes! Johnny Chua gives that list to the staff so proper credits can be entered in the church books. These are acknowledged and properly accounted for in your year-end receipts from GLC.
Come, join us next month! |
 | REPORT IN PERSON | | |
Global Outreach
 | |
Pastors Prom & Norma Amoguis |
Pastors Norma and Prom Amoguis reported on the Global Outreach of Gospel Life in the Philippines after the Fellowship Lunch last Sunday.
They have been there in the last five months or so and will take a breather until they go back, most likely in the beginning of next year.
Their personal report gave life to the GOGL reports we have published in recent weeks and months. There were stories given about real-life men and women who are part and parcel of the growth of Gospel Life's outreach even in the remote tribal areas of Mindanao, places in which travel by foot for four hours at a time is considered normal.
The couple have remained in the area for a few days to visit both sides of the family and to reunite with schoolmates from college days. They are heading back to their home in Tennessee to be with their children and grandchildren who reside in the suburbs of Nashville. |
 | GRADUATION PARTY | | |
To Celebrate a Young Leader
A graduation party for one of our recent college graduates , Jeffrey Veluz Almonte, was held in his honor by his mother, Grace Veluz who is also a member of Gospel Life Community.
The celebration was held at Edenglen Estates clubhouse in Ontario on Saturday, June 16.
A short program at the party included Aaron Alcaraz singing two numbers to the audience's delight and a slide show depicting Jeff from childhood to the present.
Jeff recently graduated magna cum laude from the California State Polytechnic University (Cal Poly) in Pomona with the degree Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
As an honors graduate, Jeff was on his school's President List for three years in a row and the Dean's List for 12 quarters in a row. He held memberships in the Eta Kappa Nu, the Electrical and Computer Honor Society; the Tau Beta Pi, the All-Engineering Honor Society; the Gamma Sigma Alpha, Greek Honor Society; and. the Golden Key, All-College Engineering Honor Society.
He also received the 2011 Boeing Electrical Engineering Scholarship. At the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering he was Fundraising Chair of the Triangle Fraternity for Engineers, Architects and Scientists; and Treasurer and Philanthropy Chair of the International Society of Automation.
Jeff was also a member of the Cal Poly Pomona Concert Choir, baritone section, and a member-dancer with the VDC Dance Team.
Our multi-talented graduate played the guitar with our Gospel Life Praise and Worship team some time ago. Congratulations to you, Jeff, one more time! |

Recognizing the Religious Spirit in the Workplace
 | |
Prayer for Blessings on Pastors Norma and Prom Amoguis by Executive Pastor Joannie Alano after Sunday's report. |
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12).
Living according to rules and regulations and by our own human efforts is a trap set by the religious spirit in the workplace that we can all fall into. Do you know the signs of the religious spirit when it is operating in the workplace?
The religious spirit discourages a genuine move of God and will thwart the activity of God under the banner of religious righteousness and dogma. It also motivates believers to live out their faith in legalistic and rigid ways. We need to be aware of how this happens in a workplace. Here are some characteristics of how the religious spirit manifests itself in believers in workplace situations:
-Workers may have difficulty praying and applying God's promises to everyday work encounters.
-Workers may believe that biblical truths apply only to their personal lives, families and churches, not to their jobs.
-Workers may focus on evangelizing coworkers, but fail to do their work with excellence.
-Workers may give greater priority to religious activity and events than to relationships with others at work.
-Workers maintain a "us" versus "them" attitude when relating to non-Christians in the workplace.
-Workers may refuse to join a workplace prayer group or Bible study because they feel that it is trying to replace the role of their local church. Workers don't see a need for such activity in the workplace.
-Workers feel the need to compartmentalize faith activities to their local church alone.
-Workers discount the idea that Christianity could transform a workplace, city, or nation as "overzealous," "naïve" or even doctrinally wrong.
Beware of this when trying to encourage faith in your workplace. Remember, Stephen was the first martyr in the early church at the hands of religious leaders. You will find your greatest resistance often comes from those in the religious community.

| Meditation | | |
Dear God, I thank You because You are the Rock of my salvation. I thank You that my life can be built upon such a strong foundation.
Thank You for helping me to trust, to live, to take every breath based upon the foundation I have in you. Thank You for helping me to weather life's storms, to keep looking to You, and to be a thankful child, never a pouting brat.
I thank You because You strengthen me and keep my feet steady on solid ground. I am grateful for my family members, Lord, and I pray that each one will be committed to You and live a life that glorifies You and ministers to others. In the blessed name of Jesus I pray, amen. |
