Greetings!

Gospel Life Community cultivates a Kingdom Culture among those who consider themselves a part of its committed congregation.  Like any other culture it slowly but certainly takes a root in individual lives, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and utmost trust not only among themselves, but in the development of a very intimate relationship with God.

The process of community could be hampered by personal challenges and lingering anxieties. Isn't it interesting that the scripture states that the enemy prowls like a roaring lion in a passage dealing with anxious thoughts? (1 Peter 5:7-9)

Christians do not have to live with worry. God promises to close the mouths of lions that attempt to threaten His followers (Daniel 6:22). The best response to worry and anxiety is to yield self to God, confident that He wields the power to take control of your life, when you let Him, because it is your choice.

One other thing that helps build trust is when you finally acknowledge that God has your best interest in mind, and that He always engineers your experiences to your good and for His glory. (Romans 8:28)

Let's lay our concerns in God's hands and once there, let's not try to snatch them back by continuing to worry about them. Reject the enemy's lie by affirming that God is larger than our biggest worry and that He is adequate to handle any situation for us.

Theme for the Month

"Kingdom Authority"
This month's theme for Gospel Life Community is entitled "Kingdom Authority."  It involves what Christians as heirs to God's Kingdom are given authority for, and empowered to do. It is about the supernatural ministries intertwined with spiritual warfare and the training necessary to exercise this authority.

Pastor Hansel will have a series of three messages on this subject over the next three Sundays. We all need to hear and to listen to God's Word regarding this topic. Your family members and friends may want to hear preaching on this matter, so do not hesitate to invite them, including members of your bible study groups who do not come to church but who may be ripe to hear a biblical discourse regarding our inheritance in the kingdom.

Do not miss these upcoming messages from the Holy Spirit through Pastor Hansel!

Working vs. Striving

"So he said to me, 'This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit," says the Lord Almighty."'" - Zechariah 4:6

Your greatest obstacle in fulfilling God's purposes in your life is the skills you have acquired to perform well in your work life. One of the great paradoxes in Scripture relates to our need to depend on the Lord; yet at the same time, we're instructed to use the talents and abilities God gives us to accomplish the work He gives us to do.

It has been one of the most difficult principles to live out. How do we know that what we achieve is by the power of the Holy Spirit in our life versus our own abilities, and is there a difference? When we reach a level of excellence and performance in our fields, it actually becomes an obstacle to seeing God's power manifest in our work. What we naturally do well becomes the object of our trust. When this happens, God retreats.

You see, God allows us to develop skills, but these must be continually yielded to God's Spirit. There will be times when God will use these skills to accomplish His purposes. There will be other times that God will not use any of our skills just to ensure that we know it is by His power that we can do anything.

It is the oxymoron of all oxymorons for Christian workplace believers. Learning not to act until God shows you to act is a sign of maturity in God. "Do not lean on the natural skill which you have been given. Let God manifest Himself in what you are doing," said a mentor who has learned this balance of skill and walking with God. "You must almost restrain from doing those things you know you are prone to do and actually go against them."

I was learning this lesson recently when I was asked to participate in a large event that would give great exposure and much needed financial increase to my ministry. It made all the sense in the world to participate. Then I prayed with a friend and asked the Lord His mind on it. The Lord showed us this was not His plan for me. I declined the invitation.

Ask God to teach you what it means to walk according to the power of the Holy Spirit in your business life. Develop a listening ear to the small voice inside that wants to direct your efforts by His Spirit.

Meditation

"God, I believe You are using circumstances and events to move me into a place of patient waiting as You put me in the place You desire for me. Help my soul to mature, my faith to grow, my life to be more pure and dedicated to You.

"James 1:2-4 tells me, 'Count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.'

"Lord, I praise You in the midst of it all--my special trials and daily challenges--knowing that I must learn to be patient and content as I wait upon You. Thank You for being with me through every trial, every day. In Jesus' name I pray, amen."
