LION'S DEN SCHOOL
Summer Session
JUNE 6 TO AUGUST 26
_______________________________
Greetings!
Are you face to face with a hopeless situation? Do you sometimes feel like you have nowhere to turn to? Do not despair. You have HOPE!
"Hope is dreaming while awake. This is an extremely poweful force...Hope is what carried Abraham for all those years as he was waiting for his promise of a son to be fulfilled. We must learn to hope in the midst of our situations, no matter how discouraging or impossible they look. Hope is the mechanism that attracts solutions and ideas for creating momentum...Once we have hope, then the impossible becomes possible...There is victory in our hearts even though the battle rages on." Eric & Bill Johnson, MOMENTUM, pp. 123,124
"And the scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God's promises to be fulfilled." ROMANS 15:4

FIRST SUNDAY RECAP
Ladies Share Impressions
Pastor Tony Luciano led at our First Sunday service yesterday. Several ladies gave various testimonies and revelations through the Word of God. Myrna Aguila spoke on how she was impressed to share a passage in the book of Psalms where God promises to make us "prosperous and successful" by following God's Word.
Lelit Luciano shared her recent experience of attending the 40 Days in the Word bible study group. She says that since then she can hear God more strongly and that she has become more prayerful for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. She took to heart what the study course recommended: to learn, love and live the Word.
Linda Rivera spoke about her 40 years of marriage with husband Pastor Romen Rivera. She concentrated on the biblical command to love one another. She said, don't just say it, but show that you love others. Although her husband is not an openly demonstrative person, she said, she knows he loves her, nevertheless.
Nancy Alano sent word to Pastor Tony that she, too, was impressed to share something with the congregation. She brought to our attention the verses in Romans 8:29-39 where the love of God is described in superlative terms and that absolutely nothing can ever separate us from His love. She asked, "If God is on our side, how can we lose?"
And then we heard from our very young Miss Jessica Alano who gave her only money, five dollars, when she heard a call for donation for some worthy cause at her school last week, and when she got home her mom told her that she found an envelope containing $20 with Jessica's name on it! Jessica was joyful that God multiplied her blessings because she shared what she had.
Finally Pastor Tony awarded Covenant-Certificates to those who finished the 40 Days in the Word course recently. Among them were Ruby Dijamco and Lelit Luciano, Alice Morgan, Art Crispino, Eunice Alinsod and "Sandy" Paul.
As always, we concluded our First Sunday service with a most welcome Communion Service. | |

MARKETPLACE MINISTRY
Why Work?
"For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat. For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread." (2 Thess. 3:10-13 NKJV)
Jesus probably spent most of His life working in His family's carpentry business. We know almost nothing of His youth from adolescence until He began His public ministry at about age 30. But we know that His father was a carpenter (Matt. 13:55) and that Jesus also practiced the trade (Mark 6:3). Carpenters worked with wood, metal, and stone to produce furniture and farm implements, and constructed houses and public buildings.
Jesus may have continued His occupation even after He began to teach and travel. Rabbis (or teachers) of the day commonly spent anywhere from one-third to one-half of their time working (most likely with their hands) to provide for themselves. And while Jesus' opponents, many of them rabbis, attacked Him on numerous grounds, they never accused Him of laziness or freeloading. Indeed, He was known to them as a carpenter.[1]
That reputation passed on to the early church. Paul tells the Thessalonians that anyone who has an ability to work should do so. It is God's mandate for every believer and is the place where we can best express the nature of God in everyday life.
Our work allows us to demonstrate integrity. Our work allows us to provide for our families and others in need. Our work allows us to often connect with non-believers. Our work allows us to live out His calling upon our lives. Our work allows us to experience His power in the midst of daily challenges. Our work can be a place of worship when we do it with a motive to glorify Him.
Today, view your work the way God views your work. It is your primary call.

Dear God, please give me a vision for what You want to do through me, for the role You want me to have in the local ministry of my church, and for the ministry You want to work through me in daily life.
Thank You for helping me to keep my eyes upon You, not upon other people, things, or circumstances. May Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus' name, amen. |
