Greetings!

Consider this:  are you a building block in expanding God's Kingdom or do you constantly chip away on what's been built?  Do you foster unity or break down tenuous links that you can find?

In Psalm 133:1 NIV  it says,  "How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity," and "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Ephesians 4:3 NIV

The goodwill, trust and fellowship that develops when you are a genuine part of a group, something to be held deep and dear, is a goal worth working at.  "And over all these virtues put on love which binds them all together in perfect unity." Colossians 3:14 NIV

WALK THROUGH

A number of folk put on their walking shoes yesterday afternoon, Sunday, to place the invitation cards for the "Debt Eraser Seminar" from door to door along nearby streets in Gospel Life's neighborhood.

Members who live in the community are to do similar walk throughs along their streets and in adjoining streets of their own neighborhoods to leave invitation cards for the seminars on their neighbors' doors.

On Monday last week, invitations were sent off by postal mail to approximately 3600 households in six mail routes within a half mile of our church campus. Additional postcards were mailed out to the homes of our church members, friends and supporters of Gospel Life to invite them to these Jesus Seminars to be conducted by Pastor John Tulio, Senior and Founding Pastor of Gospel Life Community.

There will be three meetings for each of the three weekends beginning on Friday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m.  Saturday meetings are at 3:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.

Please invite your family members, friends and neighbors to these seminars on "discovering the Jesus of the Bible." Your call may be the only incentive they will ever have to go in this direction as they look for meaning in their lives.

There are some invitation flyers left and those who may need more to distribute among their friends and neighbors may obtain them from the church staff during office hours or in the evenings when certain bible study groups meet in the church campus. Please call to be certain someone can give you access to the flyers when you come to pick them up.

HEARING GOD

Pastor Hansel's message yesterday during the Good News Hour was another challenging reminder on developing "Intimacy with God."

He indicated that we needed both the faculty or sense by which sound is perceived AND the act of perceiving sound in order to hear God's personal word to us.

How we hear from God and an enumeration of the benefits of hearing God were explained to us again, citing Elijah's experience of "failure" even after what obviously was his big success in demonstrating God's power as he communicated with and listened to God's voice.

Pastor Hansel gave a short demonstration of listening to God's voice at the end of his message  by  him and others (Natalie Orzame,Tessa Charles, Rosalie Orzame) choosing someone in the congregation to give God's word to, all of whom affirmed what was spoken to them.

One of the quotes he used from Scripture was Romans 12:6 -"So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you."

Understanding Our Own Calling

..."If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow Me." - John 21:22

Jesus was talking to Peter after he had just had a very important encounter with Him-one of the last meetings the two would have. This was the third time Jesus had shown Himself to the disciples after His resurrection. It is the famous dialogue between Jesus and Peter in which Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved Him. Jesus followed by commanding, "Feed My sheep." Jesus went on to foretell of Peter's future death.

As they were walking together, John was with Peter and Jesus. Peter asked Jesus about John and whether he would die also. Jesus reacted sharply to Peter's comment, telling him not to worry about what John's role or purpose was in life. All Peter had to do was worry about fulfilling his own purpose.

As workplace believers we tend to measure our success on whether we have achieved a certain position or stature in life. Even as Christians the temptation to believe that someone is blessed if they have achieved prominence is always confronting us. In His discussion with Peter, Jesus was getting at the very heart of the matter of a person's calling. Peter was worried about whether his friend John was going to get the same lot in life as he was. Jesus told him it should not be his concern. He was to concern himself only with one thing: his own calling before God.

Are you tempted to compare yourself with where others are in their life? Are you dissatisfied with where God has you right now? Be of good cheer-"[be] confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:6).

MEDITATION

Dear God, Thank You for a new day. I know that everything I am and everything I have is a result of what You have allowed in my life. Sometimes life is very hard; other times it is full of happiness. I know You are always there and Your blessing is available...if only I will listen and obey.

Thank You for helping me to recognize the gifts You send and the doors You open each and every day and thank You for giving me wisdom to see and do your will.

Thank You for the spiritual gifts You have given, also. I pray that You will use those gifts to work in and through me to minister to the world and draw people to You. In Jesus' name I pray and give you praise. Amen.
