INTIMACY WITH GOD
_________________________________________________
Greetings!
One aspect of our intimacy with God is how well we recognize our spiritual gift(s), because knowing what our spiritual gift(s) is(are) will help build unity among Christians. When we understand the characteritics of spiritual gifts, we see how these influence our desires, motivation and behavior. We begin to realize why other people don't always see things, or react to a situation, the same way as we would. It's all part of God's plan. The different gifts complement each other.
When we understand our spiritual gifts, it will prevent us from imposing our gift or lifestyle on others and will help us recognize God's individual calling for our lives. Let's not fall into the trap that many Christians do when they live God's will for someone else's life rather than their own.

A Different Taste
We found a slightly different taste stimulating our palates last night when we went to the Thai BBQ & Restaurant in West Covina for our monthly fund-raising fellowship dinner.
There were thirty-two of us who enjoyed the fellowship as well as the food choices we made. We had several guests again whom some of you invited to come along, and it appeared that they, too, enjoyed having come to our event!
Thanks to all who continue to support the fund-raising efforts that we do for our church. Thanks also to Johnny and Nellie Chua for being tireless in finding venues for our monthly fellowship dinners and making sure that fifty percent of what we spend for the dinners go back to the church for the projects they are designated for.
Proceeds from these dinners have mostly benefitted our Worship Ministry (upgrading the sound system). Some had been appropriated for victims of natural calamities and disasters in Japan and in the Philippines. More recently, it was announced that when members of our youth join us in these dinners, their part of the proceeds would be given to the Youth Fund for whatever approved projects they may have.
Let's look forward to our May 15th dinner.

PRAYER LIST
Jesus Seminar
The evangelistic series that begins on Friday, May 4, will consist of nine seminars that will run for three weekends in a row. They will be held on Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. and Sundays at 11:00 a.m. Pray for the message as well as the messenger, Pastor John.
The Guests Who Will Come to the Seminars
No doubt more than 3500 households will be reached by the invitations to be mailed out to our neighborhood. Pray that sincere people searching for Bible truths be led by the Holy spirit to come and attend these meetings.
Pastors and Leaders in the Philippines
Let's not forget to continue praying for the Pastors and Leaders in our Gospel Life churches in the Philippines. Remember the names you picked out of a yellow bag or the sheet of names you took home with you about 3 weeks or so ago? Those are the names you are to pray over, that God's leading and direction will be their guide as they continue to minister to the hundreds of people they preach to, study with and pray for.

Spiritual Warfare
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood...." - Ephesians 6:12
Have you ever heard someone say, "I will never do business with another Christian"? I hear this comment quite often in my dealings with Christian workplace believers. This comment represents the battle that rages against us by the enemy of our soul to destroy the witness and effectiveness of Christian workplace believers. We must realize that we are in a war - a war for the souls of men, a war to discredit all that a Christian stands for, a war that is designed to divide Christian against Christian.
Satan's ploy in the life of Christian workplace believers is to do several things to make them ineffective as soldiers in the workplace. First, he wants to discredit them by allowing them to fail other people in their professional services. This often shows up in failing to perform what they committed to do or performing in an unsatisfactory way. Sometimes, this is a result of a downright failure of the workplace believer to perform with excellence. In other cases, it may be a misunderstanding in the midst of the service that causes strife and division instigated by the enemy.
The result in both cases is the same: a division among Christians and even non-Christians, further resulting in a damaged witness for Christ. The apostle Peter admonishes us to "live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us" (1 Pet. 2:12).
There are times when each of us is thrust into situations out of our control. Sometimes this results in our inability to pay a bill on time, or to deliver a service. Defeating satan in these battles requires extra communication with those with whom we are dealing. If the motive of your heart is to do right, then God will give you favor in order to work through these difficult spots. Ask God today to show you where the enemy is seeking to make you ineffective.
We wage a spiritual war that is not flesh and blood. We must fight this war with spiritual weapons applied to practical daily living.

Dear Lord, please help me to develop a thirst for You, to spend time with You EVERY day, to be aware of Your presence at all times.
Here I am, today, to bow down and worship You and testify that You are my God, my deliverer, my hope, and my future. Thank You for helping me to remember Your love for me and draw closer to You each and every day. In Jesus' name, amen. |
