Greetings!
In many instances, at one time or another, you may be confronted with "problems" or "challenges" that may or may not test you to the max. Perhaps the more important issue is, how do you relate?
If you are part of the problem, you are in a position of disadvantage. However, if you become part of the solution, how much more positively does your influence help the situation?
It is to your advantage to recognize where you are in relation to any given scenario, because things tend to go on a downward trend when you do not recognize that you may be part of the problem. And sometimes, you may not truly know that you are either part of the problem or have become a part of the problem by inadvertently insinuating yourself into whatever situation that may be.
Only as we acknowledge Him in all our ways are we directed into the correct path. (Proverbs 3:6)

Pick up your phone or send an email
Have you had a chance to call or e-mail your friend or relative that you invited to our Easter Sunday service? Or our guest whom you haven't seen in a while?
If you haven't done so, now is your chance to do it, while you are being reminded and it is still fresh in your mind. Your call or your email may just be what they are waiting for.
Ask them how they're doing. Would they care to come and worship with us again next Sunday? Did they like what they saw or heard? Do they have any questions they need clarified? Make friends with them. Renew old friendships.
Gospel Life Community is the "Church Without Walls." Let's make sure all barriers are torn down, all walls dismantled, and all preconceived ideas about other people thrown into the trash heap.
To become friends, we must first show ourselves friendly! |
 | Our Target: Our Local Community | | |
Local Mailing, then Door-to-Door
Our evangelistic seminars are soon upon us. Our goal is to reach our local community through the series of weekend meetings that will start on May 4, Friday.
Logistics for mailing invitations to every residence within a certain radius of our church are underway. This mail will be going out sometime next week.
A week prior to the seminars, we plan for a group of volunteers to carry invitations for the meetings to our neighborhood from door-to-door. We will have an area mapped out for the volunteers where distribution will take place.
Pastor John will be conducting the seminars on three successive weekends. These are scheduled for Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons, and Sundays during our Good News Hour.
The "Jesus Seminar" is a means for everyone in "Discovering the Jesus of the Bible." A total of nine meetings in the series will complete the evangelistic seminars.
Please invite members of your family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, colleagues and others to come with you to these meetings, whether they are churchgoers or not. Let's start praying for these people who will attend so that they will be receptive to your invitation, and once they start attending, that they will allow the Holy Spirit to do a work of transformation in their hearts and minds to His glory. |

Paneled Houses
"Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?" - Haggai 1:4
There is a crisis of grand proportions in the spiritual house of God today. The moral fiber of our world has eroded. Greed, idolatry, and pleasure are the gods of our day. And it is no different in the Body of Christ.
The prophet Haggai wrote about a people who had lost concern for the need to build God's house because they were so focused on their own worldly needs. It is a dangerous place to get with God. When our world begins to focus around increasing our pleasure, building bigger and better homes, and failing to make what is important to God important in our own lives, this should be a warning to us.
Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the benches of those selling doves. "It is written," He said to them, " 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a 'den of robbers' " (Matthew. 21:12-13).
Jesus came into Jerusalem and found the workplace believers buying and selling in the temple. As far as they knew, this was an acceptable practice in their day. Their fathers did it, and now they were doing it. It was business as usual. Jesus got angry, turned over the tables, and said that His house was a house of prayer. He found the workplace believers of the day seeing His house as a place for profit, not prayer. They had stepped into a place of complacency that was not acceptable to the Lord.
When we begin to blend in with the moral condition of an ungodly world, we begin losing God's perspective on life.
It is easy to begin blending in with our culture and to accept what is being modeled by the ungodly. God called us to be salt in a world that needs much salt. "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men" (Mt. 5:13). Each of us must ask ourselves if we have lost our salt. Are we having an impact on our world? Or is our world having an impact on us? Ask God to give you a vision for how you can be salt to your world today.

Dear God, opportunities abound. Thank You for helping me to discern when an opportunity is something You have placed before me and when it is something that would be contrary to Your will. Stir my conscience and bring questions, examples, and Scripture to my mind that will guide me in this process.
Thank You for helping me to consider biblical values; ethics; the gifts, skills, and abilities You have given me; my family and other commitments; and anything else that may open my eyes to the truth. Encourage me to grasp the opportunities You give and to turn from the opportunities that I should not touch.
Thank You, God, for Your hands of guidance and Your arms of love. In Jesus' name, amen. |
