Greetings!
Thanks to all who came to our Easter Sunday service yesterday. We as a church were truly blessed by your presence and we have faith to know that your attendance was, indeed, a blessing to you as well.
Natalie Orzame directed a beautifully prepared and arranged program, and Pastor Joannie's message was a very appropriate expression of yesterday's theme: Jesus, Son of God and Man.
Those who are able can make yesterday's experience a recurring one, each week that you join us at Gospel Life Community.

Easter Presentation A short vignette began yesterday's Easter Sunday service depicting Christ's sacrifice for humanity, entitled, "Jesus, Son of God and Man."
Aaron Alcaraz was featured soloist with the Praise and Worship Team singing with him in a special vocal rendition before Pastor Joannie gave the message of the hour, with the same topic as the short drama.
The "paradox" of Jesus being both the Son of God and the Son of Man was presented in such a way as to help us "embrace the 'whole truth' " regarding His character, being sent from God and taking the human form. The resurrection of Jesus Christ empowers us to become a living paradox, where in our weakness, He is able to make us strong, she emphasized, showing us several supporting biblical quotes in the process.
We almost had an overflow crowd yesterday, and again there was great response in the Communion Service challenge that Pastor Hansel put forward. A mixed chorus offered the song "On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand." Johnny Orzame sang the solo part while Chris Miranda performed the rap part of the song. This rendition brought the service to a close.
The four lunch groups prepared a sumptuous lunch for all to enjoy. |
Think Dual Citizenship Have you or any family member been contemplating on acquiring dual citizenship win both the Philippines and the United States of America?
As Filipinos who are U.S. citizens, if there are enough of you who might be interested in obtaining dual citizenship, specifically from the Philippines, this may be facilitated sometime in mid-May. Please let us know if this is something some of you may want to do.
Arrangements may be made to get people from Gospel Life Community to go as a group to the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles, but this will have to be arranged with the consulate ahead of time to make the process go expeditiously. |
Monthly Fellowship Dinner The next monthly fund-raising dinner will be held at the Thai Original BBQ and Restaurant at 1559 E. Amar Rd., West Covina, in the SeaFood City market complex. This will be held on the third Tuesday of this month, April 17 at 7 p.m.
Please call Johnny Chua (909-228-2162) to make your reservations. There are several menu choices to pick from when you make your reservations. |
Prayer Warriors About three weeks ago many of you picked names or a sheet of names from a yellow bag that Tessa Charles prepared for the occasion. She made it known to us that those are the names of pastors and leaders among the 15 Gospel Life churches in several areas of the Philippines who need the prayers and support of our people here in Walnut.
Please do not forget to continue serving as prayer warriors for them so that they can continue to expand and advance God's work in that area of the world.
Pray not only for them, but for the people with whom they work and preach the gospel to. |
Evangelistic Seminars It won't be too long before Pastor John's evangelistic seminars begin. There are nine scheduled meetings on the three weekends beginning on May 4th. These meetings will be held on Fridays at 7:00 p.m., Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. and Sundays at 11:00 a.m.
Please start inviting your friends, family members, neighbors and co-workers to these meetings.
Topics will revolve around "Discovering the Jesus of the Bible" and as such will deal with subjects like "Why Jesus Came," "Why Jesus Became a Man," "Why we Need Jesus," "Why Jesus Died for Us," "Why Jesus is the Only Way," "Why we Can Trust Jesus," "How Jesus Empowers Us," "What Jesus Planned for Us," and "How Jesus Becomes Real to People."
General mailing to local addresses is planned and a call for volunteers will soon be made for us as a church to go out to the community so that we can leave invitation brochures in every household of the areas we choose to make the distribution at.
Let's be praying for those who will come to these seminars so that they will truly find Jesus if they haven't yet, or to reinforce their belief and faith in Him. |
Marketplace Ministry The First Requirement of Ministry
"The priests are in mourning, those who minister before the Lord." - Joel 1:9b The first requirement for being used by God in the life of others is to mourn on their behalf. We must identify with their pain and suffering. Each of us must be broken for others first. In order to be fully used by God in the workplace, we need to understand what breaks God's heart. When we understand what breaks God's heart, we are able to mourn on behalf of a grieving person, or a nation we are called to serve. What breaks God's heart? When we begin to answer this question, we begin the first step to becoming instruments of change for those things that are important to God. Perhaps it is an overemphasis in our own talent and abilities, or lack of complete trust in Jesus. Perhaps it is the lack of respect for human life that leads to the killing of innocent babies. Perhaps it is the deceit and pride that often rule the workplace of commerce. Or perhaps it is the strife and divisions among His own Body that grieve Him most. When we begin to mourn over our own struggles in these areas, God begins to use us as instruments of righteousness to affect these things. It was only when God let me see my own sins in the workplace and how they broke His heart that I began to be an instrument for His purposes.
Today, ask God to show you what things in your world are breaking His heart. Then see how He might want you to be the priest to affect for Him. The first step is identification with what breaks God's heart.

Dear God, I have to make decisions every day of my life. Some are big decisions; others are simple decisions. Thank You for helping me not to presume I know everything, but to come to You in faith.
Show me who would be a good counselor to keep me accountable and help open my eyes when making weighty decisions. Thank You for giving me wisdom, direction and spiritual discernment to know what is the right decision.
God, thank you for being the great Counselor, for loving me, and for correcting the mistakes that I make. Bless You, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
