Greetings!

Someone wrote in the past that we as Christians can act like thermometers, only registering the spiritual coldness of the environment around us. But wouldn't it be better if we acted as God's thermostat in our homes, in our places of work or business, or wherever we may be?

Let's spread the warmth of God's love and His goodness to everyone with whom we interact. Open our hearts to His blessings, and let these flow through us to others.

FULL SCHEDULE

This coming Sunday, April 1st,  promises a full schedule.  Besides being the First Sunday, there is a general rehearsal for the Easter program, which includes the choir and the Worship Team.

There will also be a Core Group meeting. Please try your best not to leave right after the Fellowship Lunch, as these activities follow shortly.

DEADLINE EXTENSION

Deadline for Submission of Applications to Fil-Am Youth Leadership Program Extended

26 March 2012, Washington DC. The Philippine Embassy and Consulates General in the United States wish to announce that the April 15, 2012 deadline to submit applications for the Filipino American Youth Leadership Program has been extended to April 30, 2012.

A memorable week in Manila awaits the 10 chosen participants, whose travel will be fully funded.  In addition to taking part in the 7th Ambassadors, Consuls General, and Tourism Directors Tour from July 11 to 14, a special 2-day program is being crafted for the young achievers that will include meetings with prominent Filipino personalities, social activities, and site visits of academic and cultural institutions.

Among the qualifications for the 10 young Filipino Americans that are being sought are the applicants' scholastic achievements and other accolades, leadership skills and accomplishments, active involvement in school or civic organizations, as well as vision and commitment in helping their communities and the Philippines.

Applicants should be no younger than 18 years old or no older than 35 by July 1, 2012 and should be ready to travel (possessing valid passports) by this date.  The chosen participants are expected to engage with the Philippine Foreign Service posts in ways that would advance causes and interests of Filipinos and Filipino Americans.

The names of the 10 chosen participants will be announced on May 15, 2012 in the website of the Philippine Embassy, www.philippineembassy-usa.org, where the application form may also be downloaded.  Questions concerning the search may be sent to embassy@philippinesusa.orgEND

GRADUATING SENIORS

This is a call for all graduating seniors (high school and college) to let us have your photo and details of your graduation so we can post them here in our Newsletter.

Announcements for all other events from our members and regular congregants are also welcome.

BABY SHOWER

A baby shower was held last Saturday afternoon at the Fellowship Hall for Norma and Tony Jordan. The baby, expected to be born in May, is the first for the couple.

CHALLENGE FOR EASTER

Start today by inviting people -- family members, friends and neighbors -- to our Easter service at 11:00 a.m. on April 8. Praise and Worship still starts at

10:00 a.m.

When everyone invites one, our numbers double. Take time to pray for the people you'd like to invite. Pray that you will have the time, opportunity and the talent to talk with them about Christ, His death, burial and resurrection!

Talk with your friend, coworker, boss, stranger and/or family member one on one about your relationship with Christ.  You might want to share your life before Christ, how you found Christ, and now your life after Christ.  After sharing your testimony, invite them to our Easter service so they, too, can experience it for themselves.

When your invitees come, ask them to fill out a visitor card or form so we can connect with them and follow up on their visit. We are praying for you and the person(s) you will invite to Gospel Life's Easter service.

MARKETPLACE MINISTRY

Competition in the Kingdom

"LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance" (Ps 16:5-6).

There is absolutely no place for competitiveness in ministry or marketplace activity if you understand God's view of receiving. The Scripture tells us that we are not only to bless our competition, but we are also called to bless our enemies.

The reason we can do this is because our security and provision is not based on posturing ourselves against another, but fulfilling what God has called us to do. When we take a proactive step to bless another, we actually apply a Kingdom principle that results in greater blessing to others, the Kingdom of God and even to ourselves.

Our ministry tries to help other ministries like ours. Some would say that we are in danger of losing "market share" or even our donors. This is the worldly model of competition. Those who cannot bless others are insecure in their own calling and insecure in God's ability to provide for their own enterprise.

God has already allocated His portion for you before the foundation of the world. You cannot out-give God. As you do your work unto Him God allows you to receive the fruit of your work.

"If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. . . The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you" (Deut 28:1-8).

Life is to be a lived vertically before the Lord, not horizontally. When we worry about the activities of others, we acknowledge our lack of faith in the One who called us.

MEDITATION

Dear God, people today want instant gratification. We want to have everything right now, and do not want to wait two seconds. I'm like that, too, sometimes. It is so hard to wait for things, especially when I'm waiting for your intervention for a special need.

Thank You for helping me to calm down, to be patient, to remember that you will take care of the situation in the right time: your timing. You are all-knowing and all-powerful. I put my trust in You.

Thank You, God, for doing what is best for me. Amen.
