Greetings!
Most parents envision a heritage for their children. And as a church, we, likewise, look forward to when the next generation picks up from where we would have left off.
The blocks we have been building on serve as stepping stones for the next set of leaders and members. Our children, the next generation, would start on a plain higher than where we are. They will not have to go through the same struggles, the same roadblocks, or the same challenges that we have succeeded to get over or around. Their battles will be different.
Let's remember that we're building an inheritance for the next generation, to set in motion a force that will turn the world upside down over and over again.
The Church Staff |

| SKYPE SESSION | The church staff had a "face to face" meeting with our Senior Pastors John and Jessie Tulio during a scheduled internet-connected staff meeting earlier today, Wednesday, March 14, using Skype. Skype is a free communication medium where conversation is carried out while watching the other party on the computer monitor. The meeting was held at around 11 to about 11:45 a.m. our time (1-1:45 a.m Manila time) and it gave our church staff a chance to discuss certains items of our agenda with them. The church's full staff was present for the meeting. They are Pastors Joannie, Tony, Hansel, LJ and Conrad. They related fruitful encounters with other Christian groups, among which is a group of believers who meet every Tuesday, about a thousand worshipers, in a resort area in Bulacan. The man who provides the place ( a gymnasium) and transportation to bring the people from and to their homes is not a pastor but invites pastors from different areas to do the preaching. He received affirmation of certain things he received from the Lord through his contact with our pastors and would like for them to return weekly. They continue to meet with Pastor Olai's group and with another minister they met through Pastor Olai. Pastor John continues to be busy finalizing the book he will publish soon. Our collective prayers go with them as they continue to minister to the people there. |
| ANOTHER EVENING TO DINE | Maxim Cafe in Rowland Heights is where we will have our next monthly fund-raising fellowship dinner. We've been there in the past, and we've enjoyed their service, so we'll go there this coming Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
All you have to do is give your reservations to Johnny or Nellie Chua at 909-228-2162.
The restaurant is located on 18904 Gale Avenue (at Nogales St.). Their phone number is 626-913-7777. |
| TOTAL MONEY MAKEOVER | Nationally syndicated radio host and best-selling author Dave Ramsey has sent an invitation to our church for a "special event that will teach them how to win with money and beat debt."
Granite Creek Community Church in Claremont will host The Total Money Makeover LIVE! Simulcast on Saturday, March 17 at 11:45 a.m. It is the largest personal finance event in the country.
Dave will "share a financial game plan that is simple enough to live by, but smart enough to actually work! It's a day full of inspiration, hope and good advice. It's the most fun they'll ever have talking about money."
Some of you may remember having attended this seminar a couple of years back when Ruth and Ernie Jordan sponsored the series here at Gospel Life Community. At Granite Creek Community Church the cost is $39 per person and this includes the workbook. Seating is limited, so those interested should contact Maria K. at (909) 625-4455 or by e-mail at maria@granitecreek.org.
Granite Creek is on 1580 N. Claremont Blvd., in Claremont, CA 91711. |

Joey Miranda receives scholarship award. From left, Dr. Bill Cole, Joey, the award presenter, and Prof. Barbara Naylor. |
The Pasadena Benevolent and Protective Order Elks Lodge No. 672 presented Joey Miranda, one of our youth leaders, a scholarship award during the Pasadena Community College Awards Program on Tuesday, March 13.
The award is known as the "Brownie Spanovich Award in Career and Technical Education." It is presented to the student chosen by PCC faculty to be most deserving of the award each year.
The awardees' families were treated to dinner at the Elks Club in Pasadena prior to the award ceremony. Dr. Bill Cole, chairman of the Pasadena Elks Scholarship Committee handed the plaque to the presenter who, in turn, gave the plaque to Joey. Professor Barbara Naylor of the Career and Technical Education department of PCC gave a short summary of Joey's scholastic and extracurricular accomplishments that made him the choice for the award.
Family members with Joey at the award ceremony are his mother, Alicia, and his paternal grandparents, Penny and Conrad. |
| GREG LAURIE IN LOS ANGELES |
 | |
Greg Laurie |
Greg Laurie, through the Harvest organization, sent an invitation for a kick-off luncheon which has been arranged at the Dodger Stadium on Wednesday next week, March 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., to gather hundreds of pastors, church staff and community leaders not only to eat together, but to pray, strategize and to share the vision of a proclamation evangelism in Los Angeles.
A similar outreach has been held in Orange County for many years and the one last year in Los Angeles "rivaled any outreach we have seen in 22 years." That event came about with "335 churches working together to reach the city for Christ. With much prayer, many workers, and faithful support, it was a resounding success. John 17 tells us that the world stands up and takes notice when we come together as one. What better way and what better time than right now?" Greg asks.
The Dodger Stadium has been reserved for two nights, September 8 and 9, for this planned evangelistic effort. Fifty-six thousand seats are expected to be filled on these two nights!

Perseverance for Success
"And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope" (Rom. 5:2-4).
Perseverance is the key to every great accomplishment because nothing of lasting value has ever been achieved without it. Industrialist Henry Ford is one of the great success stories of American history, but he failed in business five times before he succeeded. A Ford Motor Company employee once asked his boss the secret of success, and Henry Ford replied, "When you start a thing, don't quit until you finish it."
The path ahead of you is strewn with obstacles. People will oppose you. There will be financial setbacks, time pressures, illnesses and misfortunes. Some of the biggest obstacles will be inside of you: self-doubt, insecurity, procrastination, and worry. You must give yourself permission to succeed.
When we persevere through adversity, we win the approval of our Lord Jesus Christ, who told the suffering church at Ephesus, "I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. . . . You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary" (Rev. 2:2-3). That, I'm sure, is the same commendation Joseph received from God when he passed the perseverance test.
Perseverance is a refusal to quit. It's falling down 100 times and getting back up 101 times. We need to remember that perseverance is not a matter of forcing doors to open; it's standing in front of the doors as long as it takes before God chooses to open them.
Life is a marathon, not a sprint. The race doesn't go to the swiftest, but to those who don't give up. We need endurance in order to deal with the stress of adversity. We must maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and get plenty of rest. People give up or give out when they feel depleted - when they physically, emotionally and spiritually run out of gas.
When going through adversity, watch out for pessimists, blamers and toxic personalities. Beware of people who try to talk you out of your dreams and goals. Spend time with optimists and encouragers. Seek out people of faith.
Persevere to the end.

| MEDITATION | |
Dear God, This morning I remembered the children's song that goes "I am a promise. I am a possibility. I am a promise, with a capital P. I am a great big bundle of potentiality..."
In Jesus, I am a great big bundle of potentiality. Thank You for filling me with Your wisdom and guiding me in Your will. Thank You for making me obedient to You and keeping my focus on You. Allow me to reach the potential You have planned for me. In Jesus' precious name I pray, amen. |
