Greetings!
We live in an angry world. Whether we like it or not, the emotion of anger not only wounds the people it targets but also destroys the hearts of those nurturing it. It doesn't matter that it arises from inner pain or from an outside source, we have a Friend who is able and willing to remove anger from the deepest recesses of our hearts.
Total surrender to the indwelling Holy Spirit is a certain path towards clearing up vestiges of any of these negative emotions that hold us back from becoming a blessing to those with whom our lives interconnect.
It is only when we realize what's God's purpose in our lives that we begin our journey to reach our full potential in His service. Then we can recognize, appreciate and rely on His sovereignty even when things seem completely out of control.
Let's hold on and trust in Him. He's holding us in His hands!

YOUR STORY
There are numerous ministries at Gospel Life. There are several Small Group Fellowships. There are any number of groups or individuals engaged in some form of missionary work, locally or elsewhere. Or you may have experiences to share.
But where are your stories? Your newsbits? Your anecdotes?
We'd like for you to let us have these reports, stories, news items and the like. Let us know so we can publish them in our newsletter. You can then forward these newsletters to your friends and family members who may be interested in knowing what you are up to, what you're doing at Gospel Life.
It takes a few minutes of your time to do this. If you'd like to write them down, go ahead, and just hand your written notes or news bits to us. We'll take care of putting them in print. Fair enough?
Happy reporting!

WE NEED OUR LADIES, TOO!
While the Men Have Their Breakfast Meeting
This coming Saturday morning, January 14 at 8:00 a.m. is when the men will meet at the Fellowship Hall for their Breakfast Meeting.
Well, the ladies can come, too, to do their own thing. We ask all the ladies who are able to come and muster their collective strength to help pack the boxes that are going to be sent to the Philippines. There are a large number of clothes and other items that need to be packed in the "balikbayan" boxes and we need your help!
This is also a call for those who can bring childrens' clothes to do so as soon as you can, even before the packing begins. Please do not bring winter items such as thick coats and bulky jackets as they cannot be used in the sweltering tropical weather.
Ladies, please come to the church for this activity. It will probably take us most of the morning to get these donated clothes packed and ready to be shipped. |

MARKETPLACE MINISTRY
Sharing Your Faith with Others
"I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ" (Philemon 6-7). There is a strong correlation between those who publicly share their faith with others and an increase in spiritual growth for that individual. In my own journey I've discovered that when I stop sharing my faith with non-believers I begin to see a dryness in my walk with God. Sometimes we justify our lack of verbal witness by saying we don't have the spiritual gift of evangelism. Or we conclude that because we have an introverted personality we leave witnessing to others who we deem as more qualified. As a well-qualified introvert myself, I've often wanted to use that excuse. Then, the Holy Spirit reminds me of a few instructions Jesus said to EVERYONE: "But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven" (Matt 10:33). "He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation" (Mark 16:15-16). There is not much confusion about what Jesus is saying in these verses. And it relates to all of us. When we share Christ with others God allows us to gain a deeper and greater understanding of every good thing in Christ. Do you see the direct correlation between sharing your faith and your own spiritual growth? Paul says it's actually a prerequisite to spiritual growth. One of the great ways to turn a conversation to faith is by asking someone if there is anything you can pray for them about. You will be surprised how easily this will transition you into a conversation about their faith lives. Ask God for boldness today to offer to pray for someone. "God, I know that You want me to be like salt on the earth, like a candle in the dark, a lighthouse on a hill, so that others will come to You. I thank You that through the Holy Spirit I can be a witness for You.
"Thank You for showing me how You want to penetrate the darkness of my domain with Your light, and be a positive influence in the places where I live, work, study, and play. Thank you, Lord."
