Greetings!

"Celebrate Christ with us at Miracle Hill!"

As the Christmas Season comes to us this year, let's continue to give God what we have been doing throughout the year: honoring and praising Him in all aspects of our lives. It is only fitting and appropriate for us to do this because He is the wellspring of life, our Provider and Nurturer, the Assurer of our Salvation.  From Him all our blessings flow.

Come and join us as our Good News Hour messages on Sundays throughout this coming month unfold to us the majesty of Jesus as "King of Kings."

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest."  Matthew 11:28 MSG

THANKSGIVING THROUGH ALL THE YEAR

How was your Thanksgiving Day?  For most of us, it's got to have been  just a "highlighted" day because of the awareness the designated day brought to us.  We are just as thankful everyday of this fast-paced year because of all that God blesses us with:  the air we breathe, the sun and the rain, the trees, the plants and flowers all around us, for family and friends, for food on our tables and the roof over our heads, and many, many more!

This is what the Bible tells us: "No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."  1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT

Let our hearts always overflow with thanksgiving to our Lord and Maker!

WATER DISPENSER

The bad news has been that our hot and cold water dispenser at the Fellowship Hall could no longer be used in the last couple of weeks or so.  But the good news is that it has been replaced!

Our kind-hearted and generous members, Rel and Reby Ravago, donated a brand new dispenser only a while ago, today, Monday.  Now, there's steamy hot or ice cold water available for you when the hall is open and being used.

2011 CHRISTMAS SEASON

We started yesterday.  A series of four Good News Hour messages on Sundays through the month of December was begun by Senior Minister Pastor John Tulio. We will skip next Sunday as it is First Sunday and we have our congregants participating out in front.

December 11, 18 and 25 are Sundays to remember.  The evangelistic series "King of Kings" will continue on these dates.

Yesterday, Pastor John explained why Jesus Christ is "King of Kings," not the way we might have understood it in the past, as a superior King among the world's kings and rulers, but because all His children are considered Kings and Queens who will rule with Him in His kingdom.  He also expounded on why He is our "Everlasting Father."

The next three sermon topics are, "Worthy is the Lamb," "The Promise Keeper," and "The Perfect Gift." Be sure not to miss them!

SHINGLES VACCINE

All adults 60 years old and over should receive the shingles vaccine.  Approximately 98% of adults in the U.S.A. have had chickenpox in their earlier years, and if you had chickenpox or have been infected with the chickenpox virus you are at risk to contract shingles, which is caused by the same chickenpox virus that has remained dormant for years in your body.

Shingles is usually a painful kind of rash with blisters usually showing up on one side of the body or face and affecting the nerve roots that come out of the spine. "The Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta warns that "half of all people living until age 85 will develop shingles. The best way to prevent this painful virus and stay healthy and active is to get vaccinated."

Although the rash may last for about 3 weeks or so, the pain could last much longer, sometimes for months on end. This condition called "post-herpetic neuralgia" is what you wouldn't want to go through, so getting the vaccine is the way to go, medically speaking.

Brochures about shingles are available at the church foyer.  Thank you, Janet Yost, for bringing them in.

The Church

"Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you" (Lev 26:8).

The Church is called to impact the world. The biblical definition "church" is not an institution or building, but rather it is made up of individuals. Jesus said "wherever two or more meet together, I am in the midst of them." The biblical word translated as "church" is ekklesia which is the original Greek meaning "the people of God."

The New Testament used this word in two different ways. Sometimes it refers to people of God gathered together in congregations. That is our traditional idea of the local church. But other times it means believers in general, wherever they might find themselves.

God calls the Church to be transformers of society through their collective influence. Jesus prayed that His Church would be unified in order for the world to respond to Him. "May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me" (John 17:23).

The enemy of the Church is secularism, a religion that says there is no God. When local congregations fail to come together as a collective voice and operate instead as individual silos in their community, society is given over to the evils created as a result of an unbelieving society. Conversely, when the Body of Christ - the Church puts its collective resources together to solve societal issues, our enemies--crime, poverty, sexual perversion, etc.-- will fall by the sword of a unified Church.

God is birthing coalitions of His Church among congregations in the city in order to fulfill John 17:23. Are you willing to be a catalyst in your community to see His Church take back your city?

MONTHLY  DINNER  FELLOWSHIP

We have had more fun during our monthly fund raising fellowship dinners which have become sort of an event we look forward to. These will resume in January, 2012 to allow us a month "off" as we tend to get busier during the upcoming holidays.

The poster pictures for the November dinner are already up and displayed at the church foyer and at the Fellowship Hall.  We thank Johnny and Nellie Chua for faithfully collecting the pictures from each dinner and making a collage of the images and then making poster prints of them.

MEDITATION

"Dear God, thank You for getting rid of my spiritual aches and pains and thank You for leading me in this process as you allow me to submit fully to You, to draw near to you, to cleanse my hands, and to purify my heart.

"Thank You for making me humble before You, my God. My worth comes from You alone, not from what the world has to offer. All glory and honor to You, for You alone are worthy of praise.

"You alone can lift me up and give me abundant life and joy beyond comparison. Thank You, in Jesus' name. Amen."
