GRACE LIFESTYLE
Greetings!
We are certain that your week is off to a very good start. After such a blessed weekend, could we expect anything but that? Praise and Worship yesterday was so alive and so inspirational! In the Good News Hour Pastor Joannie encouraged us into "Living Your Destiny" by looking forward to it, thereby accelerating that journey. And now the next three weeks will take us to the subject,"Grace Lifestyle." Pastor L J will deliver a message on this topic next Sunday, while Pastor John and Pastor Hansel will follow through on the same subject matter the following two Sundays thereafter. You may find the lifestyle of grace as the most challenging lifestyle to endeavor to live, but it will likely be the most empowering kind of lifestyle that exists. The Church Staff |

'TIS TOMORROW!
The month passes by so quickly! It seems we just had our monthly fund raising dinner not too long ago, but yes, it's time for this month's dinner.
Tomorrow, Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m., we will meet at the Asia Buffet (18268 Gale Ave., City of Industry, CA 91748 Tel.: (626) 581-8292). This location is on the same street as Maxim Cafe, only further west closer to Fullerton Avenue.
If there are any more of you who'd like to join us, please call Johnny Chua at (909) 228-2162 for reservations. Proceeds from this month's fund raiser will go to both the Global Outreach fund (for the typhoon-devastated Guimba Gospel Life Church in the Philippines) and for our Worship Ministry (sound system upgrade). |

THE CASE FOR GIVING
Sometime ago Pastor John spoke to us about our church's mortgage note becoming due in May, 2012. He urged us to prayerfully consider what we might give sacrificially to take care of it.
We all know that God has a plan. In fact, from the history of how Gospel Life acquired this property, we are certain that He was the One that made it possible for us to do so. And we know He will be the One to take care of the rest for us.
In the meantime, we are not going to sit still, not because we lack faith in Him but because we'd like to be actively involved in exercising the "Christian Principles of Resource Management and Investment."
On March 13, 2011 Pastor John gave a Sunday afternoon Family Finance Seminar. Were you at that meeting, you would have received a pamphlet with the same title where he outlined God's prosperity plan for Christians. He also enumerated the ways people give.
Of these there are three preferred ways: 1) planned giving, in which there is a "consideration of the object of giving, motive for giving, the method of giving, the purpose of giving, and the result of giving." This boils down to proportionate giving (a certain percentage of income rather than a specific amount) on a planned and pre-committed basis.
2) Sacrificial giving, in which a member foregoes something "in order to make funds available;" and
3) Faith giving, which "involves great dependence upon God's miraculous provision in order for the member to give a substantial amount (an amount which is not normally available without God's definite intervention).
Need-based giving is also acceptable "because we give willingly in order to meet a perceived necessity." We probably should stay away from "token giving," "pressure giving," or "emotional giving" as these usually result from either giving without thinking, or as a response to an appeal to our pride, or based on our mood or a play on our emotions.
In any event, make sure to give this matter your serious, prayerful consideration.
"You are rich in everything -- in faith, in speaking, in knowledge, in truly wanting to help, and in the love you learned from us. In the same way, be strong also in the grace of giving." (2Cor. 8:7 NCV)
"Give, and you will receive. You will be given much. Pressed down, shaken together, and running over, it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you. (Luke 6:38 NCV)
Please drop your gift envelopes with your name on it into the "treasure box" sitting against the wall in the rear of the church to help retire our church mortgage. "Each man should give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." (2 Cor. 9:7) |

MARKETPLACE MINISTRY
Kingdom Economics
"So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant" (Josh 24:13).
In the world of business we are taught to do whatever it takes to produce a desired outcome. Competitive forces can drive companies to go beyond the limits of ethics and integrity to achieve a desired outcome. Men and women can become work-a-holics as the need for competitive advantage is passed down the various management levels in order to meet sales and marketing goals. This sweat and toil mentality contradicts God's Kingdom Economy.
The Kingdom Economy is found in the above verse in Joshua. When the people of Israel were coming out of Egypt, a place of sweat and toil and slavery, God was trying to teach them a new economy of receiving. Instead of sweat and toil, He wanted them to learn obedience. Now their income would be based on their obedience, not their skill or their sweat and toil.
This new Kingdom Economy meant that there would be times when what you receive from your efforts might be less than the commensurate time invested. Yet, there would also be times when you would receive more compared to your time invested.
I used to determine whether I would meet with a person based on my perceived return on that investment. I justified that behavior as being a good steward. God says we are to determine if He wants us to meet with that person or be involved with an endeavor based on His leading alone, not based on the perceived outcome. It is His responsibility to bring fruit from the activity.
This will result in a new freedom in your work life. Stay vertical with God and let Him determine your next activity.

ATTEND A BIBLE STUDY GROUP OF YOUR CHOICE
There are a good number of you who have not availed yourselves of joining at least one of the Bible study groups or small group fellowships listed in the church bulletin. As the saying goes, "Try it, you'll like it!"
Or, if the current groups are located too inconveniently from you, start your own group or host one and let us know so we can get someone to lead out for your proposed group that you want to host.
Pastor Tony Luciano will give a video seminar on "Building a Biblical Community" whose main thrust is to re-focus the aim of small groups to become "transforming groups" in society. All small group leaders and leaders-to-be are invited to attend this meeting on Sunday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. |

GREETING CARDS
The holidays are soon upon us. What better way is there to prepare than to have greeting cards available when the time comes.
We have several hundred packs of blank greeting cards where you can write your own personalized greetings inside. The card covers have beautiful Philippine scenery pictures, four different kinds in each pack of 12.
Why don't you order these for the coming holidays? There are order forms at the back table in the sanctuary. You can offer these to your family members and friends, too, for their own greeting card supply.
You can use them not only as your personal greeting card, but also as gifts if you give them away by the pack.
You can have them for a donation of $10 per pack of 12 cards, or $90 for 10 packs.

MEDITATION
"Lord, I commit myself unto You, and I thank You for establishing my thoughts and directing my steps. Let my heart beat with Your desires.
"Thank you for taking away that desire to do wrong by keeping me under your faithful, loving, and warm wings of love. I praise you, Father, Savior, Deliverer, Comforter. In Jesus' name. " |
