PRAY FOR THE GLOBAL OUTREACH OF GOSPEL LIFE
Dan_Jec_John
Greetings!

Our senior ministers Pastors John and Jessie Tulio are in the Philippines.  Hopefully there won't be any further typhoons while they are there to visit as many of the Gospel Life churches there and to establish the beginnings of a church group in the MetroManila area.

Let's all pray that the Holy Spirit continues to guide and direct their ministry in helping nurture the congregations that are up and going,  and in raising new churches that will expand God's kingdom in that area.

The Church Staff

YESTERDAY:  FIRST SUNDAY
We had a joyful Praise and Worship service yesterday. Our band consisting of Pastor LJ and Jayson on the guitars, Junior Cabrera on the percussion instrument, Natalie on the electronic keyboard, and Annie and Johnny as vocalists (LJ, too), provided awesome leadership for our Praise and Worship.

Being First Sunday, Pastor Hansel led out in the church service.  We heard a testimony on answered prayer from Archie Cabrera, and Dr. Lilian Ong spoke on "spiritual housecleaning."  Most everyone participated in the Communion Service, a remembrance of the Lord's Supper.

CORE GROUP MEETING
Pastor Joannie led us through a couple of items that needed attention.  First was the reorganization of the groups that took care of our fellowship lunches.  There are now four groups instead of three, based on casting lots last week.  Twenty dollars per family per month will be collected to help defray the cost of food prepared for the lunches.

The youth will also be helping out in cleaning up after lunch.  Pastor LJ and the youth group were all present at the meeting.  Part of "campus care" will also be rendered by members of the group assigned for each particular Sunday.  They will help water the plants that need to be watered.

The matter of our participation in the Walnut Family Festival was discussed.  We have volunteers for setting up and taking down the tents that we will use for our booths, both in the Community Awareness and Game areas of the festival. Volunteers to man the booths are lined up including those who plan to offer a prayer ministry. Our healthcare personnel are signed up and ready for the Blood Pressure and Diabetic Screening Clinic.  Dr. Onie Pascual will donate his time and expertise as our  medical consultant on site.

Those who have signed up for the parade at the festival should meet at the gas station at the corner of Lemon and La Puente by 9:30 a.m. at the latest on Sunday. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m.  Kindly wear your red Gospel Life T-shirts.  You may use the ones you wore from two years ago.  Tony Luciano distributed the new shirt orders yesterday.

A request was also made to refrain from parking along the curb that leads to the covered driveway in front of the church on Sundays.  This will allow vehicles carrying passengers that need to be dropped off directly close to the steps in front of the church to drive through this area without obstruction.

Affirming New Leadership

"But Moses replied, 'Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD's people were prophets and that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!'"(Num 11:29).

One of the attributes of a Kingdom leader is to recognize when God is raising new leadership and be a catalyst to affirm and encourage it. These leaders also model a level of humility that God blesses. Leaders who are insecure about their leadership will put down new leadership in order to maintain their own status.

The Bible says that Moses was the most humble man on the face of the earth. That is why God used him as a leader to bring an entire nation out of bondage.

Joshua was concerned that two young men prophesied in the camp and considered this an affront to Moses' leadership. Moses viewed the same situation very differently. He viewed it from an eye of a Kingdom leader who modeled humility and a Kingdom focus. Moses was secure in his own leadership and so he did not need to put down others who he could construe as usurping his leadership.

King Saul represented the opposite of this principle with David. The people began to see God raising David into leadership. However, because Saul had a stronghold of insecurity in his life, he was not able to affirm God's new leader. This ultimately led to Saul's removal. God rejected Saul because of  this.

The Body of Christ is in great need of leaders who are secure in their leadership. If God has called you to be a leader, look for opportunities to encourage new leaders. As you do, God will insure that you will fulfill the purpose for which He called you.)

TREASURE CHEST

Treasure ChestWe're putting to good use the "treasure chest" that sits against the back wall of the church, pictured to the right. This chest was built by Sam Alano some time ago and recently repainted/refurbished by Royal Garcia.

This chest is where we can place our special offerings other than the regular offerings we bring.  Yesterday it was announced that offering envelopes put into the chest will be designated for the devastation suffered from the recent typhoon "Pedring" by the Gospel Life church in Guimba, Nueva Ecija.

Please watch out for announcements regarding future special offerings that will be received by dropping them into the  chest in appropriate envelopes. Please identify the donors' names so you can be properly acknowledged and given your tax-deductible receipts.

MEDITATION

"God, I stay so busy. There is so much to do...working at home and outside the home, activities at church and school, taking time to exercise, appointments, family obligations, invitations to special events...it never ends. In fact, it all seems to grow larger day by day.

"Please remind me to take time out. I don't want to try to do everything and leave You out. I want to start fresh right now and come to You every day; spend time talking with You, meditating on your Word, listening to You, praising You and thanking You.

"Please, God, like a breath of fresh air, cleanse and clear my heart and mind. Fill me with Your presence and power for living the life You want for me. Thank You, in Jesus' name. Amen."
