| Greetings! | |
"Think positive" is a phrase we hear often enough. It is quite easy to fall into the trap of negative thinking. When we analyze this it becomes obvious that thinking negative thoughts is truly ridiculous, whether they are about losing trades, traffic jams, car problems, bread that doesn't rise, not finding parking spaces or relationship difficulties.
God gave us marvelous minds that can help improve the quality of our lives, and not just for ourselves but for others as well, just by trusting Him and knowing that He will always take care of us.
Let's dwell on the positives!

| CHURCH MINISTRIES | |
We urge the various church ministries to utilize our newsletter to publish their activities, news articles, announcements or any other material they would like to share with our church community.
Many times we have a devotional section relative to our Marketplace Ministry, but there are several other ministries of our church that can avail themselves of these electronic transmissions just by sending us an e-mail of the stuff they'd want to be published. |
| MARKETPLACE MINISTRY | Called to the Ministry
Usually a person should keep on with the work he was doing when God called him" (I Cor. 7: 20 TLB).
We've all heard stories of men or women in the workplace that left their jobs for the "ministry." Certainly God does call people into vocational ministry. However, many times this move is more rooted in dissatisfaction with a career combined with a spiritual renewal or first time commitment to the Lord.
The idea of a "higher call" can also appeal to our sense of a greater and nobler destiny. We have incorrectly elevated the roll of the Christian worker that serves within "the church" or a traditional "ministry" role to be more holy and committed than the person who is serving in a secular environment. Yet the call to the secular workplace is as important as any other calling. God has to have His people in every sphere of life to meet the needs of His creation. Also, many would never come to know Him because they would be separated from society.
I learned this lesson personally when I sought to go into "full-time" service as a pastor in my late twenties, only to have God thrust me back into the workplace unwillingly. This turned out to be the best thing He could have done for me, because it was never His will for me to be a pastor. He knew I was more suited for the workplace.
We are all in missions. Some are called to foreign lands. Some are called to the jungles of the workplace. Wherever you are called, serve the Lord in that place. Let Him demonstrate His power through your life so that others might experience Him through you today. View your vocation as means to worship Him.
Paul said it right; "In most cases we're going to remain in the place where He first called us."

| SMALL GROUP FELLOWSHIP |
Are you a part of a Small Group Fellowship or a Bible Study Group?
If you have not joined one yet, please do. SGFs are our weekday resources for spiritual nurturing, for Christian growth, to belong to a "safe" haven, to seek shelter in times of need.
There is an unbelievable amount of blessings you can be sure to receive once you belong to one of these groups. The Bible studies help us to understand things that we may otherwise not understand. Or, they may make us better able to explain the reasons for the principles that we believe in.
There is a list in your church bulletin of the various groups meeting during weekdays in your area. Call the number listed for the host of the group you wish to join for directions to their house or place of businness where the meetings are conducted. |
| TREASURE CHEST |
On Sunday, Pastor John told us about the need for more Bibles to be used among the people who attend Basic 10 Bible studies being given by our Gospel Life churches in the Philippines.
The need is for Tagalog Bibles that can be readily purchased in the Philippines. He asked for donations and sacrificial giving for this and for other needs that have been previously referred to. There is a "treasure chest" (pictured above) against the back wall of the church sanctuary where you may want to put your envelopes containing your donations for this project and for other sacrificial gifts you might have.
Royal Garcia made this chest himself and donated it to Gospel Life. |

The economy in which we now live places a lot of us in furnaces of affliction, prisons of testing, battlegrounds of trials and temptations. Only our faith and trust in our Lord sustains us through all of these. Our positive walk wants nothing of this world's fame, honor, or pleasure but rather we keep growing hungrier for things with eternal significance as we become more intimate with Christ, to know His heart and His voice. |

| MEDITATION |
| |
"Dear God, It's scary being a parent today. Times are so different. Teens face so many obstacles the adversary places in their paths in today's corrupt society. I pray that you will give wisdom and guidance to parents, and special 'unction from on high' to Christian parents to know how to understand, relate, and raise their children.
"Thank You for helping them to live a life of positive influence in front of their teens and to transfer the values that they will need to build a positive life; and I thank You for helping them know what is acceptable and unacceptable teenage behavior; and for giving them support along the way.
"Thank You, God, for Your ever-present help. In Jesus' name, amen. |
