Greetings!

The nightly Praise and Prayer meetings this week are turning out to be real blessings to those in attendance. Four more such evenings are coming, including the one tonight.

We urge those who haven't come to our "Breakthrough Week" to come and join us for these fruitful, Spirit-led Praise and Prayer sessions!

BREAKTHROUGH WEEK

Every evening this week, Praise and Prayer are prominent features of the scheduled meetings at our church.  Monday and Tuesday evenings were for Faith and Relational breakthroughs.  Tonight is for Healing Breakthrough. Topics for the remainder of the week are:

Wednesday, September 7 - Healing Breakthrough
Thursday, September 8 - Financial Breakthrough
Friday, September 9 - Ministry Breakthrough
Saturday, September 10 - Global Ministries Breakthrough
Sunday, September 11 -  Miracle Hill Breakthrough

Additionally, Sunday is our Day of Fasting and Prayer.  Please remember that no food will be served at lunch, and those who are unable to fast for physical, medical or personal reasons are requested to eat off campus.  They can rejoin the rest who will remain on the premises afterwards.

We are asked to press together in praising God and in claiming His favors for the breakthroughs identified above and especially for His financial blessings for the Miracle Hill property.

Pray for and experience breakthrough miracles for yourself, your family and our church community.
LAST SUNDAY'S SERVICE

DannySantosPianoLast Sunday was First Sunday of the month. We saw Danny Santos offer his praise to God by singing "You've Got a Friend" and playing the piano at the same time.

His wife, Linda, followed with a short reminder why Jesus is the best friend we've got. Some members of the Lion's Den class gave their powerful personal testimonies.  They were Christopher Miranda, Eric Torres and Jessie Guo.  Junior Cabrera sang an original song while playing his guitar.

We celebrated Communion at the end of our First Sunday service. And because Jessie will be away for the next several months to attend the Bethel School of the Supernatural up north, we gathered around her to prophesy blessings upon her.

We send Jessie off with our prayers for God's blessings, guidance and direction as she gets herself ready to be of greater service to Him.
CORE GROUP

Pastor John  focused on a few specific things at our Core Group meeting last Sunday afternoon. He updated everyone on our church finances including plans regarding the church mortgage that is to become due in May, 2012.

We also heard plans regarding Gospel Life's participation in the Walnut Family Festival.  A sign-up sheet is being passed around to recruit at least 30 to join in the street parade during the festival. A game booth for the youth and another booth for our blood pressure and diabetic testing clinic will also be set up.

Whether we will do anything in particular for our church's anniversary in November was also brought up. The logistics of this coming Sunday's lunchtime activity was briefly discussed. (There is no Fellowship Lunch on account of the Day of Fasting and Prayer. All lunches, for those who are unable to fast, will be off campus.)

43rd ANNIVERSARY

Paul&DollyCoupleClose friends and relatives gathered at Paul and Dolly Sy's residence on Sunday evening to celebrate the couple's 43rd wedding anniversary.

Those who attended enjoyed  the spread of favorite dishes especially prepared for the occasion.  Guests dined around colorfully linened tables arranged in the gazebo as well as on the multi-level patio at the backyard. Several fun games were played while others enjoyed visiting and chatting among themselves.

It was a happy occasion for all concerned. Several of the guests and relatives spoke to recount some recollections about the couple and to wish them more blessings for years to come.

When His Work Exceeds His Presence

"If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here" (Exodus 33:15).

One of the great dangers in Christian service is to move from a presence-based work to operate purely on our natural skill. Once we become established in something, the daily maintenance can lead us into complacency until a crisis arises that forces us back to our knees to appeal to the Lord for His presence to return.

Things were going well for Moses as he led the people out of Egypt. God was calling him to Mt. Horeb, the mountain of God, to receive the Ten Commandments. While he was there, the people fell away from the Lord by returning to the ways of Egypt by building and worshipping a golden calf under Aaron's watch.

This revealed that the spiritual foundation of the people and the leadership of Aaron had not been grounded enough for the leader to have an extended absence. God's presence had left the people. If you are in management, you must know the condition of your team to know how long you can be away from hands-on leadership.

When Moses came back and saw what had happened, he recognized the solution as well. Having God's presence return was the only way they could proceed and have success. "How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?" (Ex 33:16).

Moses also realized a weakness in his own ability to lead. He pleaded God to mentor him: "If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you."

Is the presence of God in your current activities? Are the people you lead mature in their faith that allows you to be off site? Ask for God's help on both counts.

MEDITATION

"Dear Lord, Thank you for this day. Thank you for my being able to see, to hear, to speak, to move about today. I'm blessed because You are a forgiving and understanding God. You have done so much for me. I have witnessed your hand of blessing, your miraculous power in my life and in the lives of those I love, and you just keep on blessing me.

"Please keep me, my family, and my church family safe from all danger and harm. Help me to live each day with a positive and Christ-focused attitude and plenty of gratitude. Please clear my mind of distractions so that I can hear from you and please direct my steps today. Thank you so much, in Jesus' name, amen.
