Think of This Today
Friday Extra
Greetings!

As we enter this first weekend of the month, let's think about our dear brothers and sisters in the faith, as well as our family members, friends and neighbors who may be hurting in one way or another.
Let's look at them and see them as God sees them.  Let's not pronounce judgments on them.  As we judge others, so are we judged.
God grant you safety in your travels, guidance and direction in all that you do, and faith to know that He sits sovereign on His throne. He cares for you and me!

A HEALING COMMUNITY

To help people recover from their failures, their challenges and their wounds we need to give credence to the concept that Gospel Life is a "healing community", a place where it is acceptable to be broken, have problems, admit failure, and where help is expressed in concrete, practical ways.

How does a local church build a healing community? It begins by  "letting your hearts be broken with the things that break the heart of God." It begins with a willingness to listen before we speak, and a humbleness that realizes, "there, but for the grace of God, go I."

It recognizes that Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, has the answer to whatever it is that concerns us, baffles us, or escapes our understanding.

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."  Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG)

Have a Happy, Spirit-filled weekend!

MEDITATION

"God, I realize that because I am a Christian, I am in "Full-Time" Christian service. Some Christians are called to foreign lands. Others are called to minister in the workplace or on the home front. I am called to minister and to worship you where I am.

"Please, God, help me to see my work and my daily activities as a means to worship to you. Demonstrate your power through my life so that others might experience you through me today.

"Thank you, my loving and all-powerful God. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."
