Greetings!

Our service yesterday was truly so Spirit-filled and inspirational.  We weren't through till about 1:00 p.m. but no one seemed to mind as the Praise and Worship flowed into the Ministerial Ordination service and on to the Lion's Den School graduation program.

Attendance was SRO, with some of the youth occupying seats in the balcony.

We can only praise the Lord for his goodness, and for all the blessings He continuously pours upon us, undeserving though we may be.

Tony Luciano casual
INVESTITURE AND INSTALLATION

Tony Luciano was ordained into the gospel ministry yesterday, Sunday, August 28th, with Pastors John and Jessie Tulio officiating.
He and his wife, Lelita are officially designated as Ministers for Discipleship.

Pastor Medy Alcaraz and his wife, Irma, were the Ministerial Escorts as the candidate for the investiture and installation into Ministerial Office and his wife, and GLC Senior Ministers John and Jessie, marched down the aisle to take their places on the seats arranged for them in front of the lectern.

The presentation of the ordination candidate preceded his response, after which the Ordination Rites followed.  A short litany was recited, followed by a Q&A examination of the candidate.  Then there was the laying on of hands and annointing by the ministerial leadership of Gospel Life surrounded by the congregation.

Prophetic blessings upon the couple (by Pastors Jessie, Hansel Orzame, and Joannie Alano) and the official charge on the ordination was punctuated by Johnny Orzame's rendition of a very moving song, "Send Me," authored and originally set to music and song by Michael Priebe.

"Tony and Lelit have served in the GLC staff for some time now as Media Ministry Coordinators and as Pastoral Ministry Coordinators for Community Life Group A (San Gabriel Valley area) since 2009.  They have been involved in small group ministry (Basic 10 and Growing in Grace Bible Study series) and the seniors' Bible study since they joined Gosple Life in 2007.

"Tony worked as computer programmer and consultant for many years.  They obtained their Bachelor's degree at the University of the Philippines (Tony majored in Physics and Lelit majored in Nutrition).  Lelit is currently an Area Manager at the Public Health Foundation Enterprises' program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).   Tony has completed all of Gospel Life's theological and ministerial training courses several times.  He has demonstrated his gifting and ability to lead our discipleship and teaching ministry at Gospel Life."  GLC church bulletin, August 28, 2011

WEDNESDAY EVENING MEETING:  GOT TO BE THERE

There is an important general meeting for all Gospel Life members scheduled for this coming Wednesday, August 31, at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the church sanctuary.

Members of the Finance Committee and the church Leadership have invited someone who will make a presentation/proposal relative to a financing option to redeem Gospel Life's mortgage note which will be due in May, 2012.

To circumvent any possibility of misinformation, everyone is asked to listen to this presentation so that no one gets it second hand, and also to allow anyone to ask questions or express concerns, if any.

Our members who have financial/insurance/fiscal expertise should make it a point to be present. Thanks for remembering and marking your calendars right now!

FIRST SUNDAY

A reminder:  this coming Sunday is First Sunday of the month.  As has been our practice, our First Sundays are devoted to testimonies by our congregants, rendition of special musical or instrumental numbers, skits, dramas, poetry, praise dance, etc.

The only requirement is for you to have signed up that you are going to  participate up front, and if you have not done so by now, to call Pastor Hansel who is in charge of First Sundays (626) 487-1549 to let him know that you'd like to.

We will also have a Communion service, a remembrance of the Lord's Supper, which Jesus Himself made an example of, prior to His death, burial and resurrection.

DINNER TO RAISE FUNDS FOR OUR SOUND SYSTEM

Our monthly fund-raising dinner is  TOMORROW, Tuesday, August 30.  There is a large number of you who have signed up, but it's still not too late to call Johnny or Nellie Chua (909) 228-2162 to make your reservations and choose your menu for tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m.

We are going to Maxim Cafe, at 18904 E. Gale Ave. (Gale Ave. at Nogales St.) in Rowland Heights, just before you get to CA Route 60 if you are coming from Amar.

Our Sound Booth is almost completed but we do need some components  to make the sound system more efficient.  Proceeds from our fund raising dinners help significantly in purchasing these needed components.

Confirming Decisions

"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed" (Proverbs 15:22).

Confirming major decisions through the counsel of others is one way God protects us from poor decisions. This process is designed to confirm direction for which we are seeking confirmation. Paul was sensitive not to get too heavy-handed in the confirmation process though. He offered advice to others but was not the enforcer of their decisions. "And here is my advice about what is best for you in this matter"(2 Corinthians 8:10).

The requirement for efficient administration frequently requires single points of decision-making. Where there is willingness and trust to receive input, there is also humility, faith, and grace for God to work His pleasure in His servant. Where there is unwillingness, the opposite is true.

There have been times in my life where I have felt strongly about a certain issue only to receive feedback from those close to me which revealed that I was not accurate in my assessment of the situation. I have learned to yield in such situations, trusting that God is working through those in whom I am accountable.

The scriptures encourage us to seek advice and counsel from other Godly people who share the same values and goals that we have. "Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise"(Proverbs 19:20). "Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war, obtain guidance"(Proverbs 20:18).

Peace of mind is another important confirmation requirement for making decisions. If you do not have peace about a decision, you should wait until God gives you peace. This does not mean your decision may not have some tension due to the faith aspect of it, but deep down you should have a peace that it is the right decision.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

Do you need to make a major decision? Ask God to give you confirmation through others.

MEDITATION

"Dear Lord, I offer myself to you as an open vessel. Please work in my life and accomplish your will through me. Every little thing and every great thing that is accomplished, I praise you for it and give you all the glory. Thank you for blessing my life with your power and presence. In Jesus' name, amen."
