Greetings!
It is almost unbelievable that our Lion's Den Summer School is on its tenth and final week of session. The lessons learned, the lives transformed, the experiences gone through are all worth the initial hesitance, and perhaps fear, of those who signed up and are participating joyfully since and up to the present.
Also, the just concluded Good News hour series on "Worship" redirected our thoughts to the purpose and object of our praise and worship, allowing us to re-learn that worship's first purpose is to glorify God, and then to form and nurture us as disciples of Christ. We can be certain that what we start in worship flows out to the other ministries of our church, both as individuals and as a corporate group.
Let's all continue to expect personal blessings unique to each of us from Him who loves us and who has promised to never let us go! Let's follow the Path of Faith.

Month of Prayer and Fasting
As we have previously mentioned, and as we were told at the last Core Group Meeting, September has been designated as our Month of Prayer and Fasting. More specifically, the week of September 5 - 10 has been dubbed "Breathrough at Miracle Hill." During that week, there will be praise and intercessory prayer meetings on a nightly basis here at Gospel Life from 7:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 11, will be our Day of Fasting and Prayer. In conjunction with this event, there will be no Fellowship Lunch on this day. The Fellowship Hall will stay closed that day. No food will be eaten in the church campus. Those who are medically and/or physically unable to fast will need to make their own arrangements to eat lunch off campus. They may wish to return and join their fasting brothers and sisters as they continue to praise and pray for the remainder of the afternoon.
Additionally, each one of us may designate at least one or more days during the month of September to do our personal fasting and prayer at home or wherever we may be. For some who cannot fast from food, other types of fasting may be engaged in, such as fasting from the media (radio, tv , internet, the printed media, newspapers, magazines, etc.) or perhaps fasting from not getting emotionally upset (angry, frustrated, complaining, saying harsh words, etc.) for a whole day, and many other ways that you can think of.
Folks, September will soon be here so prepare for this event. If you have to psyche yourselves out for this, do so! Let's follow the Path of Faith.

 | MARKETPLACE MINISTRY | | Stephen: A Marketplace Minister
"Now Stephen, a man full of God's grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people (Acts 6:8-9). In the beginnings of the early church, the disciples were seeing God move in mighty ways. The disciples found themselves preaching the word of God all over the region. However, there became practical needs that arose among the people that the disciples were tending to. However, due to their preaching, these needs were not being met adequately. One of these needs involved food distribution to widows. There became an issue as to whether the needs of all the widows were being cared for. This brought pressure upon the disciples who felt their primary focus must be to preach the gospel. They now realized they could not do both adequately. This led them to appoint seven men whose lives qualified for service as leaders to serve these needs. The first man named to fill this responsibility was Stephen, described as a man full of faith and the Holy Ghost; with a strong faith in Christ. He was full of courage, gifts and graces. He was an extraordinary man, and excelled in every thing that was good; his name signified a crown. This was a time when the church began mobilizing other marketplace believers for ministry in the community. Stephen was the first chosen and interestingly, became the first martyred believer. One of the most interesting things one can notice when the disciples took this action is described in these passages. So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith (Acts 6:7). It is as though the Lord took the cap off and everything started happening. Even a large number of priests came into the faith. Take an inventory of your life today and determine if someone could describe your life as a person "full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, full of grace and power, and one who does great wonders and miraculous things." If not, begin asking God today to accomplish this in your life. (Today God Is First (TGIF) devotional message, Copyright by Os Hillman, Marketplace Leaders.) |

MEDITATION
|
| |
"Dear God, communication is not always easy and You know that. You've seen, firsthand, how hardheaded and self-centered people can be. I know I'm guilty of not taking the time to communicate with You like I should. Even though You know what I think, You'd like to hear from me and communicate with me.
"So, right now, I am making a commitment to spend more time with You. Communication with other family members and people around me is difficult, at times, too. Help me to think of other people first; not always myself first. Help me to see their point of view, their needs, their situations so that I can interact appropriately. Love them through me. I know this to be the Path of Faith.
'Thank You for looking past my failures and communication flaws, and loving me anyway. In Jesus' name. Amen. "
