Greetings!
Worship is central in the life of a Christian. At Gospel Life, our worship style is contemporary, and relaxed in the sense that there is a degree of freedom in the way we move and dress.
There is probably no such thing as a perfect style of worship. Each church displays a unique "DNA" if you will, a seed, that God has designed. What an awesome responsibility the worship leaders have to discover what it takes to make that seed grow in the area of worship. This is a process that requires much time in prayer, from persons who are willing to be humble before God, and who are willing to obey whatever He tells them to do even if it seems foolish.
We encourage all to attend our Praise and Worship service on Sundays at 10 a.m. Rich blessings through the Holy Spirit await you as you join in a lavish outpouring of honor, adoration and glory to our Maker!

CORE GROUP MEETING REMINDER
A Core Group Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. after the Fellowship Lunch. Please be present as important matters will be brought up.
Who are the Core Group (Church Council) members? All elders, coordinators, managers and members actively involved in the ministries of the church including those who are active members of Small Group Fellowships or Bible Study Groups, are considered part of the Core Group.
The Core Group reviews and approves the church's mission and strategic plans, the leadership structure, the annual budget and financial reports, property purchases or sales, membership applications and discipline, nominations for elders and the leadership board, among other things.
Core Group members are requested to stay for this meeting after lunch. Make it an important part of your personal ministry!

 SHARING YOUR CLOTHES
We continue to thank a number of you who bring clothes, shoes and other items to wear to be packaged and sent to our affiliated churches in the Philippines.
Please be reminded that the Philippines is in the tropics, where weather is almost always hot and humid. Kindly refrain from donating the kinds of garments we wear in the fall or winter. No thick overcoats, jackets or other winter wear, please. Take those things to Goodwill or to the Salvation Army locations.
Please make sure the clothes you bring have been cleaned or laundered, folded and inspected so as to make sure they are not torn or otherwise in need of repair. Shoes must be clean and not too worn out.
It also costs to send these large boxes out. Donations for shipping costs will be appreciated.

 SOUND BOOTH
At the time of this writing, the Sound Booth is under construction at the extreme right rear area of the church sanctuary (facing the stage). It will house the sound system in a more organized fashion.
Seen in the picture on the left as they build the enclosure are from left, Royal Garcia, Fred Lohmann, and Ernie Jordan. Pastor John and his grandson, Jason, began with the framework on Monday. They are hopeful this is completed by this weekend.
|
 COMPONENTS FOR SOUND SYSTEM
Aside from the Sound Booth construction, upgrading the church's sound system will require purchase of certain needed components of the system, including microphones, wireless interfaces, and other parts that will enhance performance and function of these components.
Funds are simultaneously being raised for this purpose as well. One way is through the monthly Fund Raiser Dinner that continues to be coordinated by Johnny and Nellie Chua, pictured above.
This month's dinner is on Tuesday evening, August 30. Please make your reservations and menu choices with either Johnny or Nellie by phone (909-228-2162) or when you see them the next couple of Sundays.

Abraham said, "The Lord brought me from the land of my relatives to this land and he has solemnly promised me that would give this land to my descendants." Genesis 24:7 (NCV)
|
"The size of your God determines the size of your goal. And godly goal-setting always starts with a promise of God. Don't look at your limitations; look at the promises of God. "
|
It's not just enough to know where you are and where you want to go. To help you faithfully press toward your goal, you need to find a promise from God.
The Bible has over 7,000 promises from God to you - promises of success, confidence, health, prosperity, strength, wisdom and more. Why does God make these promises?
Because he wants you to learn to trust him.
When you set a goal, don't focus on the problems, focus on the promises. Find a promise in God's Word that will take you to your goal.
This is what Abraham does when Eliezer, his servant, starts to worry about accomplishing the goal he is given. In today's verse, Abraham tells Eliezer about the promise he received from God: "He'll [God] send an angel before you so that you can find a wife there for my son" (Genesis 24:7 NCV).
You don't need an angel because dozens of time in Scripture God has said, "I'll be with you no matter where you go." God is always with you whether you feel it or not. You just need to plug into the power.
Back in 1980, the first year I started Saddleback Church, a reporter asked me, "How big do you think this church is going to get?" I said, "20,000 people by 2020." The reporter looked at me and said, "Who do you think you are?" I told him, "The question isn't who do I think I am, the question is 'Who do I think God is?'"
The size of your God determines the size of your goal. And godly goal-setting always starts with a promise of God. Don't look at your limitations; look at the promises of God.
Ask yourself, "What promise can I claim?" With 7,000 promises in the Bible, you might not know where to turn!

Worship and praise is due towards our risen Jesus who broke through the isolation of His disciples who huddled in fear for their lives following His suffering and death.
So, too, are we, the Body of Christ, called to break through the loneliness and anxiety of these times, drawing our family and friends from their fears and isolation into the comforting embrace of our gathered community of hope and grace.
As the Holy Spirit moves among us and in us, Christ draws us deeper into our faith which reveals to us that generosity breaks through distrust, paralysis and misinformation. Like our risen Lord, we, as His disciples are called to listen to the world's pain so that we can offer comfort and peace that can only come from believing and accepting Him.

| MEDITATION |
| |
"Our God, how mighty are Your works in all the earth! I want to thank You for the times You have made Your presence felt in a mighty way. Please, prick the hearts of mankind that we might seek You with all we are and that we might experience a mighty revival among believers and a great awakening among those who have yet to believe and accept You as their God. I praise You, Lord, and want to bless You with my life. I love You. Amen."
