Greetings!

Our recently concluded weekend was filled with blessings and new experiences! The Worship Conference's three sessions, two on Saturday evening, and one yesterday, were all very well attended.  The conference which began our month's theme on Worship was so appropriately timed as part of the Lion's Den School program.

We continue to learn how to trust God implicitly as we worship Him and bring praises to him. Even as we go through our personal "wilderness" we discover our God-given uniqueness, but most importantly we find God's abundance as we eat and drink of His miraculous provisions through worship.

SUCCESSFUL WORSHIP CONFERENCE
Dan McCollam

Dan McCollam, minister at the Mission Church in Vacaville, CA and director of Sounds of the Nation and the Institute for Worship Arts Resources, led out in the three-session Worship Conference held on Saturday and Sunday.

The sessions on Saturday helped us to learn how to worship and sing in the Spirit, as he shared biblical passages on rendering psalms, hymns and spiritual songs as part of our worship experience.

Yesterday he continued his talk on the worship we render based on the level of revelation that we have received.  His talks were interspersed with exercises and practical applications of the subject matter, which made for a very interactive lecture series.

His thirteen-year old son and a friend, together with  our own young people, Kai Espiritu and Jason Alano, played a couple of gospel songs as a band to the benefit of all who attended the conference.

CORE GROUP MEETING
Raising Hands

Part of the congregation at the worship service yesterday.

A Core Group Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, August 14, at 2:00 p.m. after the Fellowship Lunch.  Please be present as important matters will be brought up.

Who are the Core Group (Church Council) members?  All elders, coordinators, managers and members actively involved in the ministries of the church including those who are active members of Small Group Fellowships or Bible Study Groups, are considered part of the Core Group.

The Core Group reviews and approves the church's mission and strategic plans, the leadership structure, the annual budget and financial reports, property purchases or sales, membership applications and discipline, nominations for elders and the leadership board, among other things.

ANNIVERSARY BLESSING
Sam_Janice
Sam and Janice Alano celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary by having an "Anniversary Blessing" yesterday, Sunday evening.

Several relatives, friends and church members pronounced their blessings and prophecies upon the couple who, with their four children and an "adopted" exchange student from Korea, honored the occasion.

Pastor John led out and asked the church members to surround the family as he continued to bless and prophesy over the couple.

An enjoyable evening was spent together by all who were present and fellowshipped around the tables covered by white tablecloths. DJ Nathan Dauglash provided the music all throughout the evening.

FUND RAISER DINNER

Johnny Chua is now getting together a list of people who will join in this month's fund raiser dinner, to benefit the church's Worship and Music Ministries (sound system). It is slated for the last Tuesday of the month, August 30.

Please make your reservations and menu choices with Johnny by phone (909-228-2162) or when you see him on Sunday. A good number of you who went last time indicated that you would like to do it again at the same place.

MARKETPLACE MINISISTRY

Management by Force

"Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink." - Numbers 20:8

Moses and the people had been traveling for days without water. The people were thirsty. They were complaining and grumbling about their plight, and Moses became the object of their complaining. Moses sought the Lord for wisdom on how to handle the situation. The Lord instructed him to speak to the rock and water would flow. This would be a sign that God was still in control, that Moses was still the leader, and that God was their provider.

When it came time to speak to the rock, Moses' disgust with the people became so great that instead of speaking to the rock, he angrily addressed the people and then struck the rock twice. The water came out, in spite of Moses' disobedience. But the Lord was not pleased with Moses.

This was a time for Moses to operate at a higher level. No longer was he called to touch things with his staff to perform miracles; it was a time for him to speak to the problem. His very words would have changed the situation. Moses' staff represented two things-his physical work as a shepherd of sheep and his spiritual work as a shepherd of the people. God was calling him to move into a new dimension of using his staff. Up to now, Moses had always been commanded by God to touch something to perform the miracle. Now it was time to speak God's word to the problem.

However, Moses made the mistake many of us make. He used his instrument with force to accomplish something for God. He took something God wanted to be used in a righteous manner and used it in an unrighteous manner. He used force to solve the problem. This disobedience cost Moses his right to see the Promised Land.

Have you ever been tempted to use your power, skill, and ability to force a situation to happen, perhaps even out of anger? God is calling us to use prayer to move the face of mountains. The force of our ability is not satisfactory. God is calling each of us to a new dimension of walking with Him. Pray that God will give you the grace to wait on Him and not take matters into your own hands. Then you will not be in jeopardy of failing to move into the Promised Land in your life.

MEDITATION

"Dear God, I know You want me to have a complete picture of the situations I face each day and to know what actions I must take to fulfill Your will for my life. Please bring intercessors and leaders into my life to hold me up in prayer and help me along the way.

"Likewise, help me to be an intercessory prayer warrior,  and interceding on behalf of others around me who need prayer for their special needs and daily struggles. Bless me, Lord, and enlarge my territory. Be with me and keep me from all harm, that I may be a blessing to You and to those around me.  In the name of my Lord and Savior I pray, Amen. "
