Greetings!
Worship is part of our offering to God to glorify Him and to praise Him. Through worship we enter into the kind of intimacy with God which He wants for us to have and enjoy. It is one way to enjoy the intimacy with Jesus although He is no longer physically present with us.
Our spiritual community will truly be blessed as we continue to realize the importance of true worship in the life of one who professes to be a Christian.

Sermon: Pastor L J
"Empowered by Grace"
Last Sunday's Good News Hour sermon was delivered by Assistant Minister Pastor L J Dijamco on the continuing topic of the month on the Gospel of Grace.
He emphasized our powerlessness without grace, which is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ. He also enumerated the ways that grace empowers us with abundance, with strength and power, with gifts, and unto righteousness.
At the end of the service, the newly baptized (Steve and Gilbert Enriquez, Maddie Kinder, and Chris Seger) were asked to come to the front where they were prayed for, prophesied over and blessed by the congregation individually and corporately.

PREOCCUPATION
Natural Calamities
There have been so many devastating environmental disasters recently brought about by natural phenomena: hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and others. But are we as a church preoccupied with our internal affairs and a narrow focus on the things that we do to the exclusion of concerns for the crises that cause suffering both at home and abroad?
It is perhaps a sad commentary that most Christian churches have often failed to speak a compelling word of commitment to economic justice, or to speak truth against power, or to name the greed and consumerism that has pervaded our culture. Too often, we have allowed the culture to define us instead of being formed by Gospel values.
As we continue our journey together we place our hearts in the power of God who is creating still and will not abandon us; in the Incarnate Word, our Savior Jesus Christ, who in suffering, dying and rising for our sake, stands in solidarity with us and has promised to be with us to the end of the age; and in the Holy Spirit whom He provides for us and in us, our Comforter, companion, inspiration and guide.

FREELY RECEIVE, FREELY GIVE
Our Gifts are Vital even in an Economic Downturn
2 Corinthians 9: 6-8 reminds us that we reap what we sow. It also tells us that God loves a cheerful giver.
We give not only because our faith communities and charities depend on our giving. We give because we need to! The Holy Spirit shapes and grows us, leading us to reflect the generosity of God's nature as well as the depths of God's self-giving, made known through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus.
One way of increasing our joy from giving is to become deeply aware of how our purpose is aligned with God's purpose. Understanding our purpose leads to joyful giving.

MARKETPLACE MINISTRY
Time Management
"Show me, O LORD, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting is my life" (Ps 39:4).
David accomplished a great deal in his lifetime. However, he also understood life had an end to it and he wanted to make the most of it. He learned to use his time wisely. And so should we.
Peter Drucker was a renown management consultant to major corporations and authored many bestselling business books. He suggested three activities that might help busy executives better manage their time.
"First, do not start with the task. Start with your time. Determine where your time is going. Then, attempt to manage that time and cut back unproductive demands on your time. Consolidate your 'discretionary' time into the largest possible continuing time units.
Drucker refers to the second step as time management. After listing the activities to which we devote our time, he suggests that we ask three questions about each of these activities to help us minimize the amount of time we waste: "What would happen if this were not done at all?" And if the answer is, 'Nothing would happen,' then obviously the conclusion is to stop doing it. Next, which of the activities on my time log could be done by somebody else just as well, if not better? What do I do that wastes my time without contributing to my effectiveness?* Drucker closes by saying 'Know Thyself,' this old prescription for wisdom is impossibly difficult for mortal men. But everyone can follow the injunction 'Know Thy Time' if you want to, and be well on the road toward contribution and effectiveness."
Why not evaluate how you are spending your time and ask God how to better use your time.

MEDITATION
|
appealing.
| |
"Dear God, I know that You have called me for a special mission. Every Christian has a mission for Your kingdom. I pray that every day, I will seek and follow Your guidance, allowing You to work through me to accomplish Your purpose.
"If my mission is to feed the hungry, take care of my family, reach out to the hurting, work with a group of children, preach to the multitudes, lead a nation--however big or small--I want to pursue it and bring glory to You.
"Thank You for ministering through me. In the name of Jesus, amen."
