Dream Interpretation Seminar Thursday, July 28, 6:30 p.m. |
Greetings!
Freedom to worship is an important part of our life in the U.S.A. It would be difficult to worship if we are in bondage, and yet we could be in bondage by forces we do not even see. God has a plan of deliverance for each of us. This plan is not always the kind of deliverance we might think is best. Sometimes pain accompanies deliverance, just as a mother experiences pain in delivering her child. Let's ask: What am I in bondage to today? What keeps me from entering true worship? Even work can keep us in bondage if we fail to enter into freedom in Christ during our workday. Today, let's ask God to show us the areas of bondage that we are living in, so that we can be free of them and be able to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. The Church Staff |

FUND RAISER DINNER
Good Food, Great Fellowship
Fifty-eight persons, plus several children, attended last night's dinner at Maxim Cafe. This was a very good turn-out for the fund raising event to benefit Gospel Life's sound system upgrade.
At 7:30 p.m. most everyone was at the restaurant. A banner prepared by Johnny Chua, who also coordinated the event with his wife, Nellie, was hung at the far wall of the area reserved for the group. The banner bore the logo and the name Gospel Life Community and an eye-catching phrase across the top of the banner proudly stating "Salvation through Jesus Christ."
There were numerous comments about the good quality and generous servings of food. To have a fund raiser dinner once each month is being contemplated.
As an aside, Pastors John and Jessie Tulio were also greeted and congratulated as they celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. It was a joyous occasion for all who attended.

WORKBEE ON SATURDAY
"Many Hands Make Light Work"
All available hands are asked to help out in the workbee scheduled for Saturday afternoon, beginning at 2:00 p.m. The main target is to clean up and reorganize the classrooms and the fellowship hall in the modular buildings.
Our children and youth need their classrooms to be conducive to learning and fun places to be in. Some work in the fellowship hall and in other church areas may be taken care of depending on the number who will come to help out.
Pastor Joannie continues to look for volunteer helpers and teachers for the childrens' division. Please let her know if this is the ministry you'd like to do.

MARKETPLACE MINISTRY
Withholding Your Natural Gifting
"My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power" (1 Corinthians 2:3-5).
In the work world, we are trained to press through obstacles, no matter the cost. However, perseverance that is not directed by the Holy Spirit is only sweat and toil. We must learn to walk the fine line between these two concepts. On this subject of relying on our human strength, someone wrote:
I believe many people are so rich and strong that they give no ground for God to work. I frequently recall the words, "helpless and hopeless." I must tell God, "all that I have is yours, I myself have nothing. Apart from you I am truly helpless and hopeless." We need to have such a dependent attitude toward God that it is as if we cannot inhale or exhale without Him. In this way we shall see that our power as well as our holiness all comes from Him. Oh how God delights in seeing us coming hopeless and helpless to Him. A brother once asked me, "What is the condition for the working of the Spirit?" To which I replied that . . . the Holy Spirit must first bring us to a place where we can do nothing by ourselves.
Of course, God gives us our natural skills and He will use them, although it can be hard at times to tell whether it is God working through us or if it is our natural skill alone making things happen. We need to try to distinguish the difference even as we resist over-analyzing (which can result in paralysis by analysis).
The apostle Paul understood that it was not his ability to deliver eloquent sermons that changed people. It was the power of God working through him. If God's power comes through our work, that brings glory to the Father.

MEDITATION
|
| |
"Dear God, Thank YOU that for every hurt, every fear, every worry, every need, there is a Remedy--through the power of the Resurrection, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and the care of the Almighty--everything is going to be all right.
"As long as you are in control of my life, everything is going to be all right. I praise You Father, for loving me so much that You sent Your only Son, full of grace and truth, to make me righteous in Your sight. Thank You for the tremendous sacrifice, for Your love and mercy, for life eternal, for being all that really matters--for being my Remedy. I love you. In the name of Jesus, amen.
