Greetings!
As you look at the beach scenery under our bannerhead, we hope you are reminded of the warmth of God's love, and the peace and quiet His love brings to us.
Are we interested in sharing God's love with others? In what ways can we share as a faith community? Let's look for opportunities to share with our neighbors, our colleagues and co-workers, people we encounter everyday, and, yes, our families.

WORSHIP CONFERENCE
Mark your calendars. We look forward to a Worship Conference with Dan McCollam from Vacaville. He is
director of Sounds of the Nations and the Institute for Worship Arts Resources (iWAR).
"After serving as a worship leader for 20 years and releasing kingdom worshipers locally, regionally and globally on countless mission trips to nations around the world, Dan became heart-sick over the Westernization of worship in the majority of churches in which he ministered. Indigenous sounds had often been labeled sinful by church leadership. Since the sounds of every tribe and nation are heard in heaven, becoming an agent in restoring the stolen authentic expressions of worship became a driving passion, and thus, Sounds of the Nations was born."
The Worship Conference will be held on the first weekend of August. Meetings will be on Saturday afternoon and evening, August 6, and Sunday morning, August 7.
This will be preceded by two worship seminars on two Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m., July 17 and 31. These will be conducted by Pastor John.
Dan is a guest faculty of the Lion's Den School for that weekend as well.

BIBLE STUDY GROUPS Are you part of a Bible Study Group or Small Group Fellowship yet? If not, you are welcome to join any of the existing SGFs that meet at published days, times and venues.
Or if you are interested in hosting or leading a new group yourself, by all means please let us know so we can help you get started.
As we mentioned in Monday's Edition of our Newsletter, attending a BSG or SGF allows us to be spiritually nurtured and re-energized during the week, apart from our attendance in church on Sundays.
Please do not hesitate or delay in joining one of these groups. |
DEVOTIONAL
The Jesus Model for Ministry: Concentration by Rick Warren A number of years ago, I made a list of young pastors in America that I thought needed prayer, just like people prayed for me when I was just starting Saddleback Church. Ten years later, as I look back on that list, many of those guys aren't even in ministry anymore. They flamed out financially, emotionally or morally. They are no longer serving God. Life is not a 50-yard dash; it is a marathon. I want you to make it to the finish line. The only way to do that is to focus on Jesus, not your circumstances. As Hebrews 12:2 says, "Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish." To endure the unendurable you must see the invisible - Jesus. In dog obedience training, they put a dog at one end of a room and its master at the other end of the room, with a plate of food in the middle. And then the master calls the dog. If the dog eyes the food, he's a goner; he'll go straight for it. So they teach the dog to focus his eyes on the master. If the dog keeps his eyes on the master, he won't be tempted. Instead of heading for the food, he'll head straight to the master. You need to keep your eyes on your master or you'll get distracted. Get your mind off your circumstances and your problems and focus on God's goodness to you in your past, his closeness to you in your present, and his power to help you in your future. Do what Jonah did as he sat in the belly of the great fish: "When I had lost all hope, I turned my thoughts once more to the Lord" (Jonah 2:7 LB). If you find yourself at a point where you are discouraged in ministry, turn your thoughts to the Lord and focus on him. (From Pastors.com. Rick Warren is founding pastor of the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, CA.)

MEDITATION
"My Father in heaven, You are love. Your Word tells me that; experience shows me that. I remember singing the children's song, "Praise Him, Praise Him, all ye little children, God is love, God is love..."
"Yes, You are worthy of our praise and honor. Whether I feel down and out, unloved; am going through trials and tough times; or when I'm happy, prosperous, and "on top of the mountain," Your love reaches me.
"Your presence surrounds me and brings me warmth, contentment, and peace. Thank You, Father, so much for that. In Jesus' name I pray and give You praise, amen."
