COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS!

Greetings!
We live in anxious times. It is easy to lose sight of our true value - of our inherent blessedness as beloved children of God. However hard life seems, we have lots to be thankful for.
As well as being thankful, we need to acknowledge our anxieties. Share them with someone you trust. Share them with the Lord in prayer.

 SAFE TRAVEL
We are thankful for the safe and peaceful travel of our Pastor John and his wife, Jessie, who arrived Monday night from a six-week stint in the Philippines! They have so much to share from their missionary journey, even going to places not originally planned on because of the way the Holy Spirit led them. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! |
LEADERS BEING TRAINED
As we hear stories of their visits to various Gospel Life affiliate churches in the Philippines, we are encouraged that leaders are emerging and are being trained to fulfill Christ's gospel commission to go and preach.....
There appears to be a great need for these potential leaders to be equipped and nurtured so that the full impact of spreading the Good News can be felt from the community level in which a church "blooms" before a nation is transformed.
The Pastors' Conference held in Palawan was one such training ground. Many pastors and lay ministers were in attendance during the four-day program.
Pastor John will give a mission report soon. |
BLESSINGS IN HARD TIMES
Many times we ask:, "How do we cope in tough economic times? How do we nurture an enduring sense of hope in ourselves and in those around us?"
Let's start with gratitude for what we are and what we have. A simple task of listing the blessings in your life -- shelter, family, friends, skills, even your breath! -- including your hunger for a greater depth in your relationships, the desire to be of service and to give to others out of your blessings, these will help assuage our anxieties about the tough times we face.
And then share your gratitude list with someone you know. Set aside some time each day to give thanks for all the ways God blesses you, even for things that you are unaware of. You will come to know that despite your perceived hardships God truly blesses you in more ways than you can count.
Let's always remember that each one of us becomes a channel of blessing to others when we share the blessings that come our way, no matter how insignificant they may seem to us. |
 CHRIST-CENTERED LIFESTYLE
The third component of a Christ-centered lifestyle is Serving Humanity (Romans 15:2). This entails serving other people by demonstrating the selfless example of Jesus in ministering to other people's needs and using my spiritual gifts in serving my small group, my church and my community.

MARKETPLACE MINISTRY
Becoming Influencial "The LORD will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom" (Deut 28:13-14). Coca-Cola, at this time of writing, has a 40% market share in the soft drink industry. It is the number one brand in the world. When Coke comes into a business environment, they have authority in that realm. They have great respect because of their position in business. George Barna, the U.S. Christian researcher on Christian activity tells us that 35-45% of the U.S. population is born again. Based on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in the year 2005, there were 149 million adult workers. Simply multiplying this figure by 40% would give you a figure of 59 million Christian adult workers. If this is so, why aren't we having more impact? I would have to say the body of Christ in America is not the head, but is still the tail. Part of the reason for this is that we have not understood our biblical mandate to have dominion on the earth as was modeled in Genesis with Adam and Eve. When Jesus returned to earth He came to save that which was lost and restore this principle of dominion (Luke 19:10). When Jesus prayed in the Lord's prayer: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matt 6:9-10), He was praying that His dominion would be restored on earth just as it is in Heaven. However, we have given over this leadership to the ungodly in our societies. In order to restore this we must win the battle in seven key domains in society. These include 1) business, 2) government, 3) education, 4) arts and entertainment, 5) religion, 6) media and 7) the family (the so-called "seven mountains").(Italics supplied.) This begins by affirming the calling of men and women in the workplace as having a holy calling. Realize that whatever work you are doing, God has called you to express His life in that arena in order to have His dominion over the earth. (Bold print supplied.) CHURCH MINISTRIES
This is a call to the many different church ministry leaders. Let us have articles to publish in our Newsletter. Whatever you or your group is doing in church, out of church, for the church or if you have ideas to use in your ministry, please let us know.
Some of the viable ministries we need to hear from include those involved with membership, prophetic/prayer, worship, fellowship, evangelism, discipleship, small group fellowship, youth and many others.
Remember, this is your Newsletter and we'd be delighted to receive news bits, short articles, family events that you'd like to share, and other things that may be of common interest to our readers.

MEDITATION
"Lord God, we live in disturbing days. Across the world prices rise, debts increase, banks collapse, jobs are taken away, and fragile security is under threat.
"Loving God, meet us in our fear and hear our prayer. Be the tower of strength amidst the shifting sands, and the light in the darkness. Let us receive your gift of peace and fix our hearts where true joys are to be found.
In Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen." |
