Greetings!

How would you describe the process by which you find and do God's will in your life? For some, finding God's will is like becoming one of those self propelled automatic vacuum cleaners. We keep going in one direction until we bump into an obstacle, turn, and go in another direction. It is a constant process of elimination, failure, or success. Is this the way God would have us find His will?

Let's pray we are more intentional in finding and knowing God's will for us.

The Church Staff

Welcome Back!!!

Pastors John and Jessie Tulio

Our lead ministers Pastors John and Jessie Tulio are returning this evening from the Philippines after almost six weeks of missionary work over there.

We welcome them back into our midst, knowing that God has blessed their activities there, and we long to hear of their experiences while they ministered to Gospel Life's affiliate churches in the Philippines.

INSPIRATIONAL FIRST SUNDAY

Our First Sunday Service yesterday was inspirational, uplifting and revitalizing!  Pastor Hansel, who took charge of the service, told us more faith-building stories regarding his recent trip to the Philippines. He emphasized the demonstrations of God's power as our missionary team ministered to the leaders and members of Gospel Life's churches there.

Dr. Lilian Ong, whose private dental practice is located in West Covina, gave a very inspiring testimony about answered prayers, indicating how differently God answers our prayers from the way we might expect Him to and in a time frame that may be different from ours.  She related the time when she had a physical sensation of the Holy Spirit entering her body as a prayer for healing was being said on her behalf some years ago.

We also heard Bernard Schaefer testify about his conversations and prayers with and for Louis, a coworker of his at Hertz, and for Louis's son, with amazing results totally unexpected and not even a direct subject of the prayers that were offered on their behalf. Louis himself gave a powerful testimony regarding this faith-strengthening experience.

The Communion culminated our service yesterday at a high note, reminding us of Jesus' death on the cross, his burial and his resurrection, a sacrifice that now enables us to be freed from the power of sin and live lives that in our Father's eyes appear as though we have never sinned, made possible when we believe and accept Jesus alone as our personal Lord and Savior, by grace alone, through faith alone.

Finding The Will Of God

I desire to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart. - Psalm 40:8

The process by which you find and do God's will in your life is not by luck or happenstance. No. There is much more relationship between hearing God's voice and living within the mystery of His omnipotence in our lives. Perhaps this process is more like water in a streambed. The water is constantly flowing to a final destination. As it presses against the streambed, it gently points the water toward its final destination. There are no abrupt head-on collisions, simply slight modifications of direction. Occasionally, we come to a sharp turn in the contours of our life. For those times, God allows us to stretch our normal response to change.

A popular Bible study says that we cannot go with God and yet stay where we are. Finding and doing God's will always require change. What changes are necessary in your life to join God in what He is already doing?  (These changes we cannot do on our own.)

There is a direct connection between finding and doing God's will and receiving God's grace in our heart. A friend once complained that he did not know what God wanted of him in his life. My immediate response was, "How much time do you spend with God in Bible study, prayer, and meditation on Scripture?" "Only a few minutes a day," he replied. How can we expect to hear and discern God's voice if we don't spend focused time with Him?

If you have a spouse, how did you get to know him or her before you were married? You spent time together. You got to know everything about each other. Our walk with God is no different. It isn't enough to have a desire to follow God; we must put our energy into getting to know Him. His will for us flows out of our relationship, it is not an end in itself.

Commit yourself to seeking Him more in your life by spending more time with Him. "Call to Me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know" (Jer. 33:3).

JOIN A SMALL GROUP FELLOWSHIP

ChildrensHandsOnChins

"Unless you become as little children..."

Are we to grow in our Christian experience?  Let's study God's Word on a continuing basis.  One of the ways to do this is by joining one of our Small Group Fellowships, also known as Bible Study Groups.  There are several such groups meeting in different homes or offices throughout the week.  It is our goal that everyone joins at least one of these groups to help us stay encouraged, fed and nurtured in our daily walk with our Lord. If you are ready to start your own group or to host one, please let us know so we can help you get started.

Below is a list of the SGFs that currently meet on a regular basis.  Please call the host or leader if you need directions to get to their meeting place.

113th PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

The Philippine Declaration of Independence occurred on June 12, 1898 in Cavite II el Viejo (now Kawit), Cavite, Philippines. With the public reading of the Act of the Declaration of Independence, Filipino revolutionary forces under General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine Islands from the colonial rule of Spain, which had been recently defeated at the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War.

The declaration, however, was neither recognized by the United States nor Spain. The Spanish government later ceded the Philippines to the United States in the 1898 Treaty of Paris that ended the Spanish-American War. The United States finally recognized Philippine independence on July 4, 1946 in the Treaty of Manila.

July 4 was observed in the Philippines as Independence Day until August 4, 1964 when, upon the advice of historians and the urging of nationalists, President Diosdado Macapagal signed into law Republic Act No. 4166 designating June 12 as the country's Independence Day.                                             (From Wikipedia)

MEDITATION

"Dear God, do other people see me as a faithful friend or a burdensome buddy? I pray that You will make me be the kind of person that other people love and appreciate; not a person that others want to avoid. And I pray that I will be a good friend to others.

There are "friends" who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24 NLT).

"Let me improve my friendship skills and let me be an example of your love in all I do. Thank you, God. In Jesus' name I pray and give you praise, amen."
