Greetings!
How do we impact our neighborhood, our community? What imprint do we leave when we visit our neighbors? Why do our co-workers think so highly (or not so highly) of us ? When do we have time to witness for our Master? Where are the appropriate places to share the Gospel?
There are many other questions that we ask ourselves, sometimes inappropriately because of our mindset. That happens when we compartmentalize our lives into secular and spiritual. In reality, however, these areas should not be separate but integral parts of one another.
As we mentioned last week, our church staff would like to help each and every one of our congregation--member, regular attendee, or guest--to recognize that our service to God, our passion for the Gospel and our various "ministries" do not have to happen inside the confines or programs of the church itself, but more so out there in our homes, our neighborhoods, our cities and beyond!
Let us determine to make what seems so ordinary and mundane in our daily schedules like they are part and parcel of what we are doing for our Lord and Master Himself!

A LOVING COMMUNITY

Community of Grace
We were reminded yesterday at the Good News Hour why Gospel Life Community is a Community of Grace and the biblical basis for such a stance: that we recognize GRACE as a Gift from God and, therefore, it cannot be bought or deserved; that it is Received through the Holy Spirit; that it is Available to us just for the asking; that Christ made it possible for us; and that Eternal Life is ours because of it.
Pastor Conrad, who spoke on this yesterday, asked those who were present, and who might have wanted to receive Jesus into their lives for the first time, to pray the "sinner's prayer" after him.
Sermon topics this month will all be clustered around the subject of "A Loving Community". Next Sunday, Pastor Joannie will speak on "The Community of Service," and Pastor Hansel will speak on "The Community of Power" the following Sunday after that.

WORSHIP MINISTRY
| Earthquake and Emergency Kits
We were introduced yesterday to a relatively short fund raising drive for the next two weeks that will benefit our Worship Ministry. As Pastor Joannie mentioned we are in need of upgrading our sound system and a good way to raise these funds is to ask all of us to help out in this campaign. Earthquake and emergency kits of different sizes and types were laid out on a display table at the porch of the modular building after church yesterday. Several of you took the packets in the white envelopes from Mr. Epifanio Maestas who manned the display table. However, please order not only for yourself but solicit orders from your family, friends and neighbors (just like our school children do occasionally for their school projects). This is a two-week fund raising campaign so please continue your effort to obtain as many orders as you can from whomever you can ask! Fifty per cent of the cost will revert back to Gospel Life for however much is raised. You may want to order several for yourself anyway, for use at home, in the office, in your car, to give as Father's Day gifts, graduation gifts and birthday gifts, or for any other purpose. PLEASE ALSO NOTE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE PLACING YOUR ORDERS ON THE CORRECT ORDER FORM. There are two different order forms in the packet: one inside the brochure with the red banner head "Emergency Kits" with columns A through E corresponding to the lettered kits in the brochure, and the second one inside the blue brochure "Are You Prepared..." with columns A through N, again corresponding to the lettered kits in that brochure. If you mix them up you may get what you didn't order especially those under letters A through E as they are represented in either form. This may be confusing to some, but that's the way the company has them rendered in the order forms. These forms should be turned in WITH THEIR PAYMENTS by Sunday, May 29th. Checks should be made out to Gospel Life with a memo for "Worship Ministry." Small Group Fellowship leaders are requested to promote this campaign among their members. You may obtain more brochure packets from any of the church staff. |

Godly Forefathers
On September 17th, 1796, George Washington said, "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible." In His Prayer At Valley Forge, he entreated God: "Almighty and eternal Lord God, the great Creator of heaven and earth, and the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; look down from heaven in pity and compassion upon me Thy servant, who humbly prostrates myself before Thee."
On another occasion he said, "To the distinguished character of a patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of a Christian."
Many of our founding fathers had a deep faith in Jesus Christ. Today, there is a movement designed to remove God from our history and our foundations.
England also had a great Christian statesman in its early years. A man named William Wilberforce grew to prominence at an early age. At age 28 he came to faith in Christ and almost chose to give up politics to go into "the ministry." John Newton, author of Amazing Grace, convinced him to stay in politics. He would be credited with 69 world-changing initiatives, not the least of which was the abolishment of slavery after 50 years of work.
Pray that this generation might acknowledge and embrace their godly heritage and God will raise up other leaders who lead from a godly foundation.

CONGRATULATIONS!
| A beautiful baby girl, our newest member, Ashley Danielle, came to church yesterday with parents Ben and Julie DeVera. Let's all pray for good health and God's wealth upon the DeVera family.
Just returned from their wedding celebration in the Philippines, Mr. & Mrs. Harvey John Orzame (nee Darica Joy Espenida)! Also just back are Dr.& Mrs. Harley and Rosalie Orzame, and Natalie Phillips-Orzame. Pastor Hansel stayed on to teach at the Pastors' Conference in Palawan this past weekend, beginning May 12. |

MEDITATION
"Dear God, There are so many vocations in this world. There are so many ministry opportunities in this world too, in the workplace, home, neighborhood, church...
"Help me to see my special mission field. Where do You want me to serve? Am I in the right place? Am I taking advantage of every opportunity You have for me? Is there somewhere else You want me to exercise the spiritual gifts, natural talents, and heartfelt desires You have given me? Please open my eyes that I may see; speak to my heart that I may know.
"Thank You for guiding me and blessing me according to Your will. In Jesus' name I come to You. Amen."
