Greetings!

Someone said, "Life is short, but memory is shorter."  It is true that we tend to forget certain things, many things. And it seems we also forget when it is time to come to church, to get together with God's people, to attend a prayer service, to study God's word together, to join a Small Group Fellowship, and many more on the mundane side of the equation.

However, Hebrews 10:25 counsels us thus:  "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near."  (NLT)

So, there you go.  Let's always have an enthusiasm to attend church, not just to socialize, but to praise and worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with our fellow believers, and in this manner we can glean encouragement, inspiration and assurance in our salvation!

THERE'S ALWAYS A FIRST TIME
L J Dijamco delivered his first "formal" sermon yesterday entitled "Building on the Rock." He placed emphasis on the importance of having a firm relationship with God as our foundation and that this is the only solid rock we could build on. There were many who expressed their thanks and appreciation to him because of the blessing they received from hearing him speak the Word.

LJ is a designated Assistant Minister for Gospel Life Community, now serving as a Ministerial Intern under the tutelage of our Lead Ministers Pastor John and Jessie Tulio. He is one of our ministers for the youth and young adults together with Pastor Hansel Orzame and his wife, Natalie; and Pastor Joannie and her husband Dr. Mik.

LJ has a college degree in Kinesiology and received part of his ministerial training at the Kairos School of the Supernatural in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He is the son of Gospel Life members Ruby and Ding Dijamco.  His sister, Anne, is one of our Praise and Worship Team leaders.

THE LION'S DEN SCHOOL
There is another opportunity to attend the Lion's Den School of the Supernatural right here at Gospel Life Community!  This will be a curriculum that will stretch from mid-June to early August, meeting at certain hours, three days a week, namely, Thursday and Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday  mornings from 9 a.m. till noon.

Attendees must be 18 years old or older.  Special consideration will be given to anyone desiring to participate and who is below that age, and this will be on an individual basis.  Several guest lecturers will join the program.

Tuition is pegged at $400 per person who is attending for the first time, and $250 if one is a returning enrollee.

In the meantime, regular Friday evening meetings for the youth and young adults (and the young at heart) are now being held here at Gospel Life, from 7 to 9 p.m. This takes the LOL (Laughing Out Loud) format which began about three years ago.

DRIVE THROUGH

The Disaster and Relief Fund Drive-Through for victims of the Japan Earthquake, Tsunami and Radiation disaster will be held on Saturday April 9 here at Gospel Life. This is a united outreach effort organized by Gospel Life in conjunction with the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of San Gabriel Valley (FACCSGV), the Chinese American Association of Walnut (CAAW), the Asia Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA), and the Eastern San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center (ESGVJCC) of West Covina.

Johnny Chua is spearheading this fund drive as president of the FACCSGV and CAAW. A tent will be set up at the driveway by the church's gate near the road (E. Amar Rd.)  on that day, and a sign or marquee will be visible from the road as to what is going on.  Money donations will be received from the general public at the drive through.  Checks should be made out to Gospel Life (memo:Japan Aid).

Please tell your family and friends about this fund drive  Ask your small group fellowship attendees to tell their family and friends as well. All donations for this cause will be endorsed to the ESGVJCC who will, in turn, direct the funds to the Nanka Miyagi Nenjin Kai and to the Miyagi Prefecture in Japan.

Please send mailed-in donations to: GLCC, 436 Crestwood Lane, Walnut, CA 91789.                                                                                       Donate

Kingdom Economics

"So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant" (Josh 24:13).

In the world of business we are taught to do whatever it takes to produce a desired outcome. Competitive forces can drive companies to go beyond the limits of ethics and integrity to achieve a desired outcome. Men and women can become work-a-holics as the need for competitive advantage is passed down the various management levels in order to meet sales and marketing goals. This sweat and toil mentality contradicts God's Kingdom Economy.

The Kingdom Economy is found in the above verse in Joshua. When the people of Israel were coming out of Egypt, a place of sweat and toil and slavery, God was trying to teach them a new economy of receiving. Instead of sweat and toil, He wanted them to learn obedience. Now their income would be based on their obedience, not their skill or their sweat and toil.

This new Kingdom Economy meant that there would be times when what you receive from your efforts might be less than the commensurate time invested. Yet, there would also be times when you would receive more compared to your time invested.

I used to determine whether I would meet with a person based on my perceived return on that investment. I justified that behavior as being a good steward. God says we are to determine if He wants us to meet with that person or be involved with an endeavor based on His leading alone, not based on the perceived outcome. It is His responsibility to bring fruit from the activity.

This will result in a new freedom in your work life. Stay vertical with God and let Him determine your next activity.

MEDITATION

Dear God, I know You have chosen me for a purpose. Please fulfill that purpose for me. I pray for wisdom to allow You  in my life, to strengthen my faith and to develop me for Your great purpose. If I am to lead; let me lead. If I am to follow; let me follow. If I am to make a difference in the world, let me make that difference. If I am to influence one life; let me influence that life. Whatever my lot; let me succeed and excel for Your glory. Thank you, in Jesus' name.
