Greetings!

Our personal intimacy with God is the most important aspect of our life, bar none.We can only be thankful to our Father because he yearns for us to draw close to Him in an intimate fellowship through Jesus Christ's death and resurrection.  What a privilege this is for us all!

Living Out Loud!

The youth program "LOL - Living Out Loud" will resume meeting this coming Friday, at the church, beginning at 7:00 p.m.  This will take the place of the Friday evening small group fellowship for the youth that has been operational for the last several months.

LOL will be a fun time for our youth from the middle school age group, to the high school and collegiate age groups.  LOL aims to help teach and build wholesome relationships, playing games, and hanging out, with a specific time slot for worship/study as well.

Assistant Minister L J Dijamco as well as other youth leaders will lead out in the program  as Pastor Hansel continues to help supervise and nurture an environment of caring and responsibility for our young people.

Parents can pick up their children after 9:00 p.m.

Tsunami - Earthquake Relief

Help Victims in Japan

Gospel Life Community will participate in the global task of helping out those who were affected by the twin disasters of earthquakes and the subsequent tsunami that devastated the northern area of Japan.

Coordinating with the Fil-Am Chamber of Commerce of San Gabriel Valley and with the Chinese American Association of Walnut, both of which are led by Johnny Chua as president, the fund drive will be open to other civic organizations as well, and the City of Walnut will be notified of this local community effort through Johnny, who is also one of the city's planning commissioners.

Our church members, family members, friends and friends of their friends can participate by giving their donations through Gospel Life Community with a memo for "Japan Relief" or something similar. Funds collected will be turned over to a reputable agency currently engaged in helping those affected by the disaster in Japan.
Our Shared Values

Christ's Command to be a Loving Community

"We will create an accepting and gracious environment where spiritual friendships and mutual caring among believers are developed and nurtured."

This is the third item in Gospel Life's list of shared values developed during the strategy sessions that were held for several Saturdays recently. Each Wednesday we will continue to bring these values to you as a reminder of how we intend to make a difference in the lives of those with whom we interact, be it at home, in school, at work or anywhere else we might go.

Love Offering

Help Subsidize Philippine Pastors' Conference

Lead Pastors John and Jessie Tulio will  leave for the Philippines sometime in the latter part of April.  While in the Philippines, they will conduct a seminar/conference for the Gospel Life pastors based there.

There will be expenses related to the transportation of these pastors to the conference venue in Palawan.  Our church staff felt it important to help defray their transportation costs so these pastors can attend the planned meetings.

Your love offerings for this purpose will go a long ways in bringing the Good News to the communities and remote localities that these pastors come from. Let's ask the Holy Spirit to impress each one as to how much of our resources we can share.

Devotional

Whoever does not have the Spirit cannot receive the gifts that come from God's Spirit. Such a person really does not understand them, and they seem to be nonsense, because their value can be judged only on a spiritual basis. 1 Corinthians 2:14 (TEV)

"You can be serving God and working for God and still miss God."

The Bible tells us that there is a God-shaped vacuum in our hearts.  There is a hole in our hearts that only God can fill.  We were made to be connected to our Creator.  We were made to know Him and to be plugged into His power.

Your heart is designed to contain God.  God wants to live inside of you but when your life is filled with other things, there's no room in your heart for God. This means you're not plugged into God's power and that's why you're tired all the time. And that's why you're stressed out all the time and that's why you worry all the time.

And that's why the Bible says the unspiritual person has no room for the gifts that come from God's Spirit. It's not that God doesn't want to give them to you; it's that you can't handle the gifts because your heart is filled with so many other things.

It's like this: How many people do you know who cannot park a car in their garage? Garages are made for cars.  That's how they are designed.  That's what gives the garage its purpose. But we fill them up with all kinds of other stuff that they were never designed to hold.

The same thing is true in our hearts. Your heart was made to contain God, but when you fill it with worry and stress and guilt, you have no room for God.

Your heart may be crowded with good things, work or sports or hobbies, but they were never designed to take first place in your heart. In fact, you can be serving God and working for God and still miss God. Even good things do not have the power to hold your life together when the heat is on. And that's why your life starts falling apart.

Now is the time to de-clutter your life. What things have a greater priority than God in your life? Let me help you get started - What do you think about the most? The answer to that reveals who or what has first place in your heart.

"So this is the point:  The law no longer holds you in its power, because you died to its power when you died with Christ on the cross. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, you can produce good fruit, that is, good deeds for God.....But now we have been released from the law, for we died with Christ, and we are no longer captive to its power.  Now we can really serve God, not in the old way by obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way, by the Spirit."  Romans 7:4, 6 (NLT)
